I've seen pictures where people have no buffer tube on a .22 AR pistol.  What do they use for a back plate to keep the bolt assembly from sliding out the rear of the receiver?

Hey, quick question.  Doesn't it need some kind of back plate as well to hold in the spring and detent pin for the takedown pin?

My Spikes Tactical pistol lower has a threaded hole and set screw to hold the rear takedown spring and detent in place.

This is interesting. I just got my Spike pistol lower last week and mine is not threaded and doesn't have a set screw. I will have to use one of the carbine style plates.

IIRC, all you need is a 4/40 tap, a little oil and go slow.  Theading completed in about 2 minutes or less.

Should I tap the complete length of the hole or just enough for the head of set screw to be recessed a little?

I am wondering if it would be a problem to use a sling adaptor either A2 or carbine style with the spikes plug? I have the 22lr pistol upper that is on their website on order.

Let me check my stash and see if I have a couple...if I do, you can have them.

ETA-I have 3 of them. 2 are long ones and the third I cut to the same size I have in my pistol lower. If you don't like the one I cut or just want to cut your own, you can use a Dremel tool and a small cut off wheel and cut them yourself.

IM me your addy and I get them out tomorrow.

Dog1:
I got the screws today. Thanks again. I will let you know how it turns out, I bought the tap and handle last night.
