The reason manufacturers are offering 7" barrels is that a carbine barrel can be converted, losing the existing gas port in the process. My 7 1/2 incher from a 20":

Thx!

I linked to the J&T add above but it had limited information on their product line. My new pistol has a Star-15 5.56 lower with the J&T 10.5" crome lined A3 upper and ACE tube. The reason for shareing this pdf file is simple, I had a hard time finding this info and though you may find it informative if you are contemplating any type of build including AR or M60, boy when I saw that it brought back memories of being on a gunboat over in Viet Nam. Hope this is helpful, I saved the whole catalog onto my hard drive.

Ko-tonics / Cardinal Armory

www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=2&f=234&t=157179

I wanted a short-barreled pistol upper, but I didn't want it in 5.56 (link to original thread). Then Tim answers my prayers and tells the world about his soon-to-be-released 12.5" upper in 6.8 SPC.

There will also be an 8.5" barreled upper in 6.8 for those of you who like 'em even shorter.

6.5 Grendel 10.5" SBR upper

Please remove www.ar15barrels.com (Randall Rausch) from the links in the first post. His website is not up, and he has a bad reputation - never delivers custom barrels. Some people still have small jobs done by him, but he's completely defaulted on many custom barrel jobs.

Being a NEWBIE to the ARpistol - what exactly does that mean ? About the shorter barrels being modified ?
Also, who does have the most reasonable kits available ? Thanks

I see M1 sales says pistols only on the barrels...what if you want to turn it into a form 1 legal SBR later. Are the barrels marked as pistol? Are RRA uppers marked as pistol?
I don't want a upper or barrel marked as pistol if i can't do form 1 SBR at a later time.

Anyone know some good sources for short-barrelled uppers in variant calibers?

Tim Hicks (Cardinal Armory) used to be a good source for short-barrelled uppers in 6.8SPC, but he's been out of business for a while now...

i was looking at a J&T 7.5" pistol kit. what twist rate are their barrels? I'm looking for a 7.5" with a 1x7 twist. i can build one, but if i can buy a kit cheaper then i will go that route.
