Shorty 300BO with pig works out to be the same length as an 11.5" upper alone. I'm about 3% into the expected wait for a can, then this will make for a pretty nice travel gun. Upper goes on an SBR lower at home.

What upper is that? It looks like a Kino 12.5", but the gas system seems to be midlength.

Nevermind. It's carbine length. 10.5"?

Looks like an 8.5" to me.

It started as an FN barreled 10.5 PSA upper. I needed the PSA logo'd upper for another PSA 10.5 build, so now it's a Noveske upper, PSA/FN barrel and Centerurion Arms free float rail.
The other is a DD 10.3.  Yes, both carbine length.

It's a carbine length centurion rail and the front sight base begins at 7" and is 2" long, so that's unlikely.

ETA: ah, the question has been answered. Thanks. It's a sweet setup.

Had always wanted one of these since I saw Heat.

Heat-ish 733-ish by SoloDallas, on Flickr

ETA PS, the pistol grip is an actual, Colt A2 take off from a military Colt M16A2 from 1985-ish.
What is seen here, is (additionally) all perfectly California compliant. We're looking at an AR15 pistol receiver (and registered as such under California Law) with proper markings (on the other side) legal to own in CA with all due modifications (33.3 Tactical Calcatch version 3.3) to make it compliant with all most recent Californian regulations (other than, registering the rifle as an assault rifle). This is, in fact,  an AR15 pistol with an SB Tactical SBA3 pistol brace.

Final parts (to make functional) arrived this week. I got back from a business trip to Armenia late last night, and due to jet-lag woke up early to complete:

Really, really, liking the Scalarwoks BUIS. Not 100% sure of the mounting yet. For a "business" carbine set up I prefer a Fixed FSB and a 12 o'clock light setup. There might not be enough room on the SLR 8.5" rail to make this work. Won't know till I play with it a while, but a offset 1 o'clock mount might be in my future.

Ran a box of 110 factory through it today to set the gas and zero the irons, zero issues and rings steel at 150 easily. Hopefully my dies etc. will get here next week. I also like to "proof" builds with at least a box of factory ammo. Right now I'm exercising some "tactical patience" until the Veteran's Day and Black Friday sales for the RDS & mount.

So far, so good......

Lower:
Aero Stripped lower
Geissele lower parts kit
Larue MBT
Maxim Defense PDW Brace with JP captured spring
Radian Arms Raptor "LT"
Magpul Polymer Trigger Guard
Magpul MOE Grip

Upper
Aero Complete M4E1 Upper
Faxon 9" Gunner match series
SLR 8.5" Helix rail
Scalarworks Peak BUIS
SLR Titanium Sentry 7 AGB
Toolcraft nitide BCG
Black River Tactical Covert Linear Comp

All FDE and DDC with Black. With my indoor yellowish lighting, it looks more Burnt Bronze than it actually is. Outside it looks AMAZING (more earthy).

Performance: 10.5" barrel gives it enough velocity to still be effective with little to no issues (still running it in). The railscale anglegrip is a hit/miss with me, still debating about it. Still waiting on suppressor paperwork (8 months and counting).

Perusing, as a pistol is my likely next build.  But that has to be one of the classiest-staged thread pics EVER.
(yeah, love that movie too) The photo definitely is composed with serious cool-factor; thanks for sharing that one.

First pistol build. Grabbed a PSA 10.5 kit and an Aero lower to put it with and called it a day. Having it all put together, I can totally understand the appeal of AR Pistols now.
