why did you chop the URX rail? 10.75 would still have cleared the direct thread Omega.

I wish that were true.  Lilja measures the barrel from the end of the extension to the crown.  Everyone else doesn't count the extension.  So an 11.5 inch barrel is really 11 inches.  And since the threads are about .6 inches the combination means the 10.75 rail is 1/4 to a 1/3 inch too long.  I agonized over it but in the end I just cut a 1/2 inch off the URX and put the thing together.

It was a tough decision to chop a $300 rail.

that sucks.

Have you shot it with the omega yet? SiCo recently told me that despite their 16" advertised 6.5g minimum, it should be fine as short as 10".

Only in the backyard to fine tune the gas system.  Not enough to sight it in or get it hot and dirty.

That's awesome. My 18" Lilja was the nicest barrel I've ever seen, top notch stuff. And by the numbers you posted, the effective range is only 100yds less than an 18" Grendel. I have a 12" in the works as well, so that's good to know.

Yea I have a 12 inch Faxon coming in the group buy also.  I couldn't wait and I ordered the Lilja.....The 10.75 URX 3.1 would have been perfect for the 12 inch.  I'm going to give the 12 inch Faxon barrel to my brother when it shows up.

I have 2 of the 12" faxon barrels coming. One of them will stay 12", but the other one is getting cut down to 10.4" to fit an SLR 9.7" rail with a thread on Omega.

Very nice build.

Matched with 129gr ABLR, you will have the most compact, hunting-capable AR15 set-up on the market, ideal for being suppressed.

When you say ideal for being suppressed is that because it really needs it? Is it louder than 11.5" in 556?

I am starting to think of just using my M4 for 556 and use my sbr for grendel.

I was just talking barrel length and hunting.

Any AR15 chambered in a center-fire cartridge is going to be deafening from a short barrel, even 5.56 NATO.

In my mind, the whole purpose of going SBR is to suppress so you don't have excessive overall length of the gun.

Very nice.  What do you think of the Browe?

I'm waiting on my 12'' Faxon barrel to come in as well. I'll be using a 12" Aero Handguard.

I really liked the Omega on my 18 inch.

If I recall correctly from another thread, one individual said 5.56 and Grendel sound about the same from same SBR lengths

OP, nice stick.

Got an 11.5 5.56. Once the 12 6.5 barrels ship can do a comparison.
Or can anyone else confirm?

The Browe is similar to the TA-31 Acog LED but I have only used the Fiber Optic/Tritium TA-31 so I will compare it to that.

Positives for Browe:  Comes with a better standard mount.  The glass is cleaner and pops better than the Trijicon and the Chevron never washes out.  NV compatible.

Negatives for Browe:  It's Heavier.  You have to turn the illumination on instead of having it always just there.  Requires a battery.  Small company that may not go the distance like Trijicon.

I love my ACOGs and the Browe.  The Browe glass is amazing and the housing is  titaninum and everything feels Tier1 super cool but I REALLY like the simplicity and lighter weight of the ACOG so if I had to choose one I would go ACOG.  Luckily I was able to follow the ARFCOM motto and Get Both.
