I have a problem child 308 and have replaced the barrel and

used adjustable gas block, heavy buffer/spring and still

cannot get it to run right. I think I got two bad barrels in a row.

Been thinking of buying one more barrel and considering a 6.5 Creedmoor

instead of 308.

What do you guys recommend?

Ballistic advantage from granite ridge?

If the rifle is a problem child and not running right...

I would expect things to be even more difficult after changing to a .260 barrel. .260 is even harder to tune than .308.

What barrels where you using before and what problems were you having? Going after the cheapest 6.5 barrel or any 6.5 in general if you are having problems isn't the best idea.

Was a factory DPMS LR308A that ran like crap right out of the gate

with every type of ammo I tried including federal gold medal. DPMS

told me to keep shooting it and it was break in. The problem was that

it was destroying 1/3 of the ammo I was shooting because it was crashing

rounds into the back of the case that did not eject. so I started using

wolf ammo to lower the cost, then a case head blew off and lodged a

case in the chamber that I could not get out.

So I bought a Ranier arms Ultra match barrel and a JP bolt. Did the same

thing, over gassed. Adjustable gas block, heavy buffer/spring and it still either will not

lock the bolt back and half turn more gas causes an apparent over gas issue.

It sure looks like I got two bad barrels.

But started this thread wanting to know who sells/makes the best barrel for the buck in  6.5 CM
