I cant compete with other peoples rifles but I am going to be in a winter shoots going to 300 yards with 600 yard targets
nothing special I will do CMP vintage sniper shoots this summer with a M39 |

Thinking of building a 6.5 Grendel pistol/SBR. Is that 12" Faxon barrel from the group buy going to be too long for a pistol build or will I be happy with that?

Dang this site costs me too much money.
I'm interested but.... What do I need to do to finish the build? Do I just need to change out the bolt & mags from a standard 556 to make it work? Grendel uses a standard AR lower, right? Anyone know what kind of accuracy I should expect out of one of these? |

I've read your other threads on the Grendel with much interest. What's the deal with the .136 bolt face headspace people was talking about earlier in the thread? If I were to get into this buy, what bolt should I get? Should I get the bolt headspaced to the barrel like I did for my .308, or is it pretty standard like the 556? As far as downrange energy, how much tail will the Grendel have on it at 600 out of a 12 inch barrel? I'm guessing that the Grendel will use a .308 muzzle brake? |

This buy uses the standard 6.5 Grendel 0.136" boltface depth, and uses 5/8x24 muzzle threads.

Now this is a go a have a couple of questions, I've never played with suppressors much and currently have a Sandman-S in jail that should be ready about the same time as this barrel. Would you get an adjustable gas block to get this to function reliable both ways? And what buffer would you go with?

For 18" MLGS and ILGS, there is enough dwell time that when combined with a can, you get a lot of back-pressure and a tendency to unlock early. For an SBR with CLGS and the right port size, you might not need adjustable gas. Adding an adjustable gas block won't hurt you if you run it open in the end, but it does give you some options. The biggest disadvantage with them is choking the gas port and causing early erosion, which requires more choking as the port erodes more. Shooting in higher volume will have this show up faster than someone who shoots moderate to low round counts. |
