KAK uses Green mountain blanks, BA uses Douglas I hear? Does that even matter?
I f I build my 308 AR, I want it to out shoot me. I had load, and do well with 168/175 in my 700 police. I really dont want to spend $500 on a Ranier ultra match. Thats an awful awful lot for a barrel. Those who have KAK, or BA, or someone else, - what are these barrels capable of? .5-1 MOA? is that reasonable? (with handloads and match projectiles) Where is the dropoff point in price here? I can get the BA modern line for 150. Kak for 170, BA premium line for 220.... Whats the real difference, if anyone even knows? Where is the value point in 308 barrels, and where is the cutoff? Searching the forums leads to inconclusive results, and there isnt much info on these $200 and under barrels. I honestly know little about the price point , dropoff and relative accuracy / quality of 308 barrels. |

Kak says to expect 1moa from their barrels.
Have not heard back from BA |
|
With my experience with KAK, I have had good results with accuracy in all my barrels, 8" 300bo,16" 300bo, 16" 458, 16" 5.56. I have shot his 10.5" 308 barrel and was happy with its performance. I think moa is achievable with his barrels easily. Hope this helps.

I guess I am trying to figure out where the curve lies. Curve meaning where you start to get diminishing returns for $ spent.
|
|
Ballistic advantage states they have an accuracy guarantee. I think in it is submoa with match ammo.

Granted I am looking on a phone. But if you scroll down there is a subbar/subheading that says accuracy guarantee, open that up. |
|
BA guarantees sub-MOA with match ammo. What are you using it for? Hunting and shooting because you're an American? BA is one of the lightest and most accurate for their price range. If you take care of the barrel after you use it, it will last. I like them and just ordered 3 more. if you're competition shooting or realllly want .5-.8 moa go with something like rainier.

MOA / Sub MOA is good enough for me.
I dont need .5" groups for $300 increase in price. |

I foed.
I was going to buy a Rainer UM but this price is to good to be true. |

Researching for a barrel to complete my 308 build and for the price, the Juggernaut still makes the most sense to me.

Schuyler is 100% good to go. I'll be anticipating the shipping notification. That's a long time to ship something. It's a small shop. He is always pretty quick to respond to me when I have had questions in the past. Usually around 0430 Central time. I suspect he is pretty busy right now. He's always done right by me. |

I also bought the BA barrel from Schuyler arms black friday. 144.00 was hard to pass up. And BA does have the sub / MOA guaruntee.
|

I fo'd on a BA barrel today too. Just couldn't pass it up at $144.

On my way, as I purchased the $269 M5 upper and lower w/ a LPK from Aero this morning, to building a .308 that I've wanted for a while. Great day. |

I went with a Rainier Arms Match barrel with the 20% off. Came to ~260 delivered. I'm going to have them hold it while I want for my preferred bolt head to get in so it can be checked for fit.

Anyone have experience with the KAK 10.5" 308/7.62 barrel?
This pistol build kit sure looks tempting.... http://www.kakindustry.com/lr-308-parts/10-5-special-blowout |
|
The Kak 10.5's run really smooth and are very accurate. My buddie and myself both have one and have hit 12 inch plates out to 600 easily

Don't forget about Critereon barrels, they seem often overlooked. The big thing with them is they are hand lapped before either chrome lining or being nitrided. I bought a 20" hybrid contour nitride 308 barrel from them and it's one of the best I've ever used. The thing basically does not copper foul and is very accurate. I think I paid about $370 shipped.
It's hard to beat BA for value (I really like their barrels, too), but if you're looking at higher priced barrels give Critereon a look. -Stooxie |

Anyone got their BA barrels from Schuyler yet? View Quote I ordered one within 3 minutes of him posting the barrel and haven't gotten a shipping notification. I got an email yesterday saying they were still waiting on the barrels to arrive. They've been very good with communication thus far, I guess they're just waiting on BA to get the barrels to them. |

I have a CBI (Criterion Barrels Inc) 20 SS match barrel I got from Brownell's for $319. Supposed to be sub MOA. Haven't Shot it yet. CBI was a division of Kreiger, but split out on it's own.

That's the response I got from Chris. They keep getting told they'll be there and they never show up. I'm not in any big hurry to do my barrel swap until deer season is over but it would still be nice to have my barrel to finger fuck. |

The guys at Andro can get the BA barrels faster than anyone. They are within miles of BA and have pull over retail customers trying to be barrels directly from BA.
I run the Andro (OEM BA) barrels on everything. Would be smart to give them a call. |

Barrel came today looks great. I will use Schuyler arms in the future great to do business with.

I just got my BA barrel from Tactical Shit today. Ordered it Thursday or Friday, arrived this morning. 20" Premium series 308 for $216 I believe it was. Too good to pass up even though my build is in the early stages.

My Schuyler Arms/Ballistic Advantage BF barrel arrived today as well, sweet looking. At $144.00 w/ $7.00 shipping smoking deal for sure.

Since ba makes aero barrels, is it safe to assume they use the same materials and process with the aero marked ones?
Look and look and look, and there is zero feedback on aero barrels. Also, the 18" ba you all got from schuyler, was it mod or rifle gas? Ad said mid. |
|
I got my barrel in as well. If I was wanting to lighten it up a touch, who would I send it off to do a good dipple job?

^^^ Thanks. Relieved to hear that. Waiting for the next sale for more parts.

and yet again, no one ever wonders which chamber reamer was used in chambering the barrel.
