PSA has several flavors of uppers in 6.8-is there a LOT of accuracy differences between say, the $269 one verses the 400 plus dollar one?? I'm trying to talk myself into a 6.8 upper for deer hunting, but, being the cheapskate--whichis best for the money??

I'm sure any of them will be MOD, minute of deer.

When you want to step your 6.8 game up though... And you will... Check out Ironworkstactical.com

Thank me later.

+1 on Ironworks!

I'm not a fan of the 'A' front post. I prefer free floating (better barrel harmonics). Which cost more. But, I like it & don't need a front sight.

Here is a list of 6.8 upper makers:
6.8 SPC upper assemblies
1: Stag
*2: Ironworks Tactical
3: Suppression Solutions
*4: Wilson Combat
5: Yankee Hill Machine

If it's just a deer upper, the PSA is going to be fine...if you're expecting match grade quality, head over to 68forum and read till your eyes fall out on all of the various options and uppers out there.  Then again, get yourself an LWRC Six8 and go all in...what's $2,500 for a proprietary platform, right?  A 14.5" pinned upper will be about perfect...then again, my 12.5" 6.8 WOA upper would have been just fine out to 200yds (I prefer something in the .308 range for shots beyond).

I have one of their 18" SS barrels. No complaints.

I have a 16" CHF I bought 4-5 years ago and it's a shooter. It will shoot very close to MOA with the right loads. I highly recommend

Gotta agree with gtfoxy.  The 18" CHF stainless I have is a shooter.

Oh, FWIW - PSA's barrels are made by FN.

If you plan to reload, you should consider an AR Performance (ARP) barrel. They have 16" barrels for $185. Mine is very accurate and they will handle hot loads.

Building your own upper is as easy as building a lower with the correct tools.
