I'm wanting an AR rifle that I can hunt with.  From what I've read I have decided on the 6.8 round.  I've been reading lots of reviews on ARs and have been looking at the Stag 7 a lot.  I would be able to take deer, hogs, and coyotes with it.  95% of my shots would be under 200 yards.  I'm looking for accuracy and from what I have read the Stag 7 has good off the shelf performance.  Is there any other brands I should look at?  Thanks for any suggestions in advance.

I you can build one then go pick up an ARP barrel and bolt. If you can't build one, then go over to 68Forums and buy one on the EE.

Stag make very good 6.8 rifles and they have been making them for a long time.

ARP, Bison, WC, BHW all make top shelf 6.8 barrels. Also, PSA & Rainier Arms have very good barrels & makes upper too.

I would build one with either an arp or bison armory barrel. If your not comfortable building I'd pick up a bison upper.

There are builders out there that use ARP barrels & bolts in their assembled uppers.

I love this rail:  MI Lightweight Rail

The OD is only 1.5".

My Daughters rifle with her duracoat paint job.
Stag upper with a Leupold 3-9 with CDL on a DSA lower with Ace stock and Jp trigger and DPMS LPK. It is not finicky at all on the ammo you feed it.

Couple of pigs she stacked up last year.

Bison Armory does incredible uppers. My 18" with SPR-profile barrel is a tack driver.

Another +1 for ARP Barrels, especially if you reload.

I have built an ARP 18" and 12.5" and just ordered a 16" for my son to hunt with.

Building your own is the way to go.
