The Six8 is one of my favorite rifles and as you can see the 6.8 caliber dropped her right where she was hit.

Todd is a master at hog hunting! The Six8 seems to be a great weapon.

I just wish we could get the SPC II SAAMI approved.

EDIT: It would be nice to have ammo above 2.26 COAL,........Say...2.3.

I own and hog hunt with the lwrci six8. Most reliable and rugged rifle I own. I highly recommend, especially because of the promotions and great pricing they can be had for right now. I got 6 mags, 200 rounds of ammo and an Aimpoint T1 micro for $1900 shipped.

I havent found the six8 UCIW at that price but I know its a part of the free Aimpoint T1 promotion. You could justify the optic value at $750 against the average $2400 price I have seen the six8 UCIW or you may be able to find the six8 psd pistol so you can start a form1.

Here is a link to a good priced six8. I believe discount will show when you add to cart. May also want to call and ask if they will throw in ammo or mags.

The six8 is a very nice package that, with SPCII specs ammo, is a very potent & well engineered package.

My question is why has it taken this long for you guys to push this here. I know the 68forums have been using this upper/lower combo for some appreciable time. So why now?

Also, since Colt bought LWRCi & now they are going banko, where does that leave this new Colt division, & to a lesser degree the aerospace division that was part of the deal...

Just curious.

But again, very nice work you guys did on taking the capabilities of the 6.8 to the next level of parts & functionality.

While I cant officially respond for LWRCI, I will say that ARFCOM has a lot of nay-sayers (shit talking) when it comes to variants. I am one of those talkers because I believe there is a caliber best for certain applications and not just one caliber that wins them all.The six8 from LwRCi is in a totally seperate class of variant AR15 calibers because of the quality, the value added of the six8 design and the type of consumers it attracts. 68forums caters to these kind of consumers and amplifies itself as a No-bull forum for its enthusiasts. That being said, I think it is difficult to win over the broad spectrum and interests of the arfcom community while talking them into a $2500 proprietary rifle. The six8 doesnt solve all my problems but it fills the void of hunting in texas for me. All I need now is a 10-15 round mag.

Ah, I see now. Perhaps some engineering type could mod one to a shorter length. I just don't see Magpul putting resources into a 10 or 20 rounder for a since rifle line. Perhaps if the platform was expanded to other manufactures and the customer base increased they might consider.

My thoughts exactly. Im not complaining, I just "want" it. I would assume a steel 10 round mag would be easier for someone like ASC to make.... They could even charge $50 a mag..... Hint hint

There's really no reason other manufacturers couldn't offer Six8 format uppers and lowers comparable in price to any other billet receivers. I wish they would.

Excellent! I hadn't heard that.

I am sooo happy now as I was very concerned for the future of this evolution of the 6.8.

I really enjoy my 6.8. A better version of that has to be the cats meow.

I hope this, & the 6.8 in general continues to gain ground.

Best to you.

BUTT!!!

1)  PRI solved the mag "problem" over a decade ago that allowed loading to 2.30".  (Then for some reason pissed it away with retro-waffle design.)

2)  #1 explains why tooling costs ets. for a dedicated/esoteric lower was never needed for some artsy-fartsy plastic mags.

3)  Tim Hicks, that bastage @ AR15P & a few others [ did I mention PRI ] did the work that kept the round from dying, if truth be told.

And you want to sell me a dedicated to PMags 6.8 lower almost 15 years later?

Technically?

Ok not trying to be a weenie here but by the flyer listed below... some armed forces have adopted the 6.8 and converted to it from 5.56
Who???
I've been out of touch with the 6.8 for a few, but last that I remember only uses were by SF troops in Afghanistan.  It was never officially adopted by any military branch as a replacement of the 5.56.
Has some other country adopted it?
as I recall the 6.8 had more bullet drop at 600 yards than both the 5.56 and 308?

Quoted:

The 6.8 SPC round was generally designed to create a round that would fix the deficiencies of the 5.56's performance. Essentially this was created to make a more powerful and all-around performing better round than the 5.56. this would ultimately be a bridge between 5.56 and 7.62. So, with a 6.8 you are getting more performance; range, terminal ballistics, and barrier penetration are all greatly improved. This includes your performance out of a short barrel rifle as well. The article below is another great read that can explain the benefits of the 6.8 in comparison to the 5.56.

http://www.machinegunarmory.com/DOCS/TechSpec_6.8_ADVANTAGE.pdf

Traditionally, no one has ever created a "true" designated 6.8 rifle. Most every 6.8 rifle was utilizing 5.56 components. Although this does work, it presents various issues with fitment and primarily magazine reliability/ feeding issues. We decided to build a rifle around the 6.8 SPC round itself. This included collaborating with Magpul to make a wider magazine that truly fits the 6.8 SPC II round. Our system is the only one that will accept a Magpul 6.8 SPC II P-Mag magazine. We widened the mag-well in order to accept these new magazines. the Six8 is a proprietary system, however the fire control group, grip, and picitany rails are still interchangeable with standard AR-15 components.

The Saudi's and Jordan are both using it.
There are more using if for their SF but the companies supplying them are not at liberty to disclose who yet.
Just as there are 6.8 SAW's shipping to unannounced countries.

This is not exactly "new." Glad to see LWRCi here promoting it, though.

I helped LWRC develop this when Darren Mellors and Jesse were in charge of the project.  In 2013,  I shot the (then prototypical) ATK XM68GD that was the round we recommended as the optimized bullet for the system, at hogs from the helo.  We then autopsied the hogs and pulled the bullets.  We presented this data at CTTSO in Washington DC, to what I believe were interested attendees.

ATK XM68GD fired from both the 8.5" PSD and a 16" barrel.  Great expansion even at 2440 FPS.

</a>" />

We have since shot hundreds of hogs from the helo using this rifle and bullet, and to the present the WRR edition / LWRC SIX8 is my (and my pilots') favorite hog eradication weapon.  I have used 6.8 for the last 8 years, professionally in the guide service so no surprise at its prowess, but I am still trying to get some other companies to make a metal magazine to allow for the 2.42" OAL, that could be possible with the larger mag well dimensions.

The Helo rig.  The ambidextrous controls make it easy to manipulate while flying.  However, to this day, I haven't had a single Malf with that rifle.  I had a few FTE's with the PSD we tested because the bag-type catcher blocked the ejection port, but now that I have modded the bag, no more FTE's.

</a>" />

Fully Ambi controls help manipulate the rifle in helo or vehicle.
