All the info you need is on that site, link i posted. Everything is in stock currently to my knowledge. Currently its for handloaders. Same load data as 460 S&W magnum with .452 diam bullets

I said the same thing until I saw 3000 ft lbs at 75 yards.

This is one of the routes I was looking at for the GII in the straight-walled category, more for anticipation of the natural developments the hunting market will take.

What receiver set are you using?

With the shorter/lighter receivers, people are going to open up to the AR10 in ways that have been held back by the 9" long receivers and bulk/weight/balance issues that keep you from having a nice field gun.

So far, your build looks like it's going to be very light and handy.

This will make a killer brush gun, with fist-sized ribcage exit wounds on medium game.

I would also consider editing that page to indicate the true limitation of the AR15 frame being the barrel tenon diameter, not the bolt thrust.

Barrel lug is different in the GII model so I think we may have to wait for further interest in this variant before someone attempts it. Unless you are well aware and thats what you are insinuating.

Its a Cmmg lower and an Aero upper. I paid more for the Geissele S3G trigger than the receivers. The aero upper receiver rear tang sits about 1mm higher above the buffer tube socket so I have extra charging handle clearance, which came as a surprise. I shouldnt have any trouble running a PRI gas buster CH.

I didnt engineer it but I know who did. I would assume there isnt too much on there about ar15 limitations in order to avoid making waves with others who produce and consume the large bore variant competition. I used to own a couple 50 beowulfs which was fun but they were the first to go when the gun scare came and reloading consumables dried up. I am happy  that I can feed this thing .452 castings all day. Flat shooting out to 200 yards is also a plus. I am going to throw a simple 1-4x scope on it and be done. In the meantime I am staring really hard at the Bowers VERS 458. I will post pics of the final build later next week and try to get a video of this cannon sounding off.

Yeah, your lower looked CMMG, but then the upper has Malfunction Assist Forward, so I was scratching my head.  The CMMG receivers are surprisingly light.  Are there any mating issues between the two as far as pins go?  Nice surprise with the charge handle clearance.

Looking forward to this project coming together and seeing your results.  What production pills are you thinking?

No mating issues, the receivers fit really nice together, no pin slop.

As for the initial loads, I am starting out with 250g Hornady XTP HP.452 loads. I am going to try some Lil Gun and some AA1680. 2500 fps should be easily obtainable with the factory load data. It uses a lot of the same powders I use for the 300 blk subs I shoot in my bolt gun which is nice. I also got a pretty neat gas block to go with it. Medesha Firearms makes it, it comes with different sized "jets" you can swap around in lieu of having an adjustable style gas block.

It's a fun one for sure/ I've shot mostly 200 gr FTX in mine, some 300 gr FTX and XTP MAG and even a few 395 gr cast lead with a gas check.  The 395 gr boolits don't like to cycle very well, wide flat nose.

Update. 15" MI rail installed. 875" medessa adjustable gas block too. DTA thread protector is stil in the mail along with the 1-4x bushnell scope and 30mm mount. If all is well on reliability and function, a bowers 458 can will be set in suppressor jail for a few months.

Really interested in seeing a picture of a 45 next to a 308. Can't find a pic of them anywhere on the web.
This idea has been in my head for months, ever since I started my lightweight 308 build.

Bowers Group LLC makes a heavy duty 458 can that is rated for 2600 fps (velocity being a conversion of the allowable pressure the suppressor can handle). It is callled the VERS 458. This is the only one I know of that is afforable and rated for this caliber. I would think the Wilson Combat Whisper 458 would be rated as well since it is rated for 308 winchester. Only problem I see there is the thread options do not go up to 3/4-24tpi which is what this barrel comes with.

I put 10 rounds downrange today. They were somewhat light loads, 29.5g of Alliant 2400. Casings were extracting but not picking up the next round. Now that I know it goes bang, I will get some heavier loads in there.

Wow! Very impressive numbers for the cartridge design! The numbers remind me of some of the JDJ designs.

The power level at the caliber fits in a niche where there are not very many affordable options, but this one could potentially be a very interesting development. I like the bullet options and performance at these speeds.

I think I see a pig gun in the making....

The 45 Raptor is an interesting adaptation of a great cartridge.,,,the 45/70.  Now that it fits the semi auto platform, its a 21st Century Buffalo gun.

And it doesn't get much better.  Throw a 230 HP at 2600 fps and you are still around 2000 lbs of energy at 200 yards. Penetration can be controlled by changing bullets but you do have to be careful. Some bullets won't work at those velocities and have to be carefully watched . They can prematurely expand and that is fun to watch even if not necessarily safe.  A puff of smoke and away it goes.

But this is a great platform for close hunting. Deer or Hogs ...the Raptor doesn't care..

If you have a large caliber AR, or a switch barrel Savage, you need to try one.

And it does have some interesting Tactical Applications.

Too bad they went with handgun bullets (.451) instead of rifle bullets (.458)

.452 magnum bullets. You can also swage down from .458. I like it because I can shoot cheap with a lot of energy and use the same powders and such that I have for my revolver and lever guns.

I like this a lot... BUT... would rather like to see a 458RAR (member here did some amazing work on this) or similar from the DPMS 30RAR platform. I really wished that took off more. I hate going to the 308 platform for practical hunting purposes especially when the 458rar numbers were looking so good.

anyone know if htey will have SBR barrels?  8-12" may be interesting

I'm a big 45/70 / .458 Socom fan, I wonder if a .458 barrel could be had for some extra coin so I could use the same bullets and wouldn't have to swage my rifle bullets down and risk losing accuracy...

Sooo I just sent a follow up question to Satern...

it shoots great. I dont have any accuracy reports since I am mostly shooting with irons on steel, checking for reliability, function and working up loads with different powders and bulets to see what it likes the best. It did break the plate off the welded stand so I need to get that repaired this week. so far AA1680 is the best powder I have used. Alliant 2400 has been no bueno, but I plan on opening up the port to .120" so it may improve after that. Currently, I believe the gas port is .110"

I am sure they will fulfill the demand for the 16" versions before cutting short barrels. I also dont know how much testing has been done with different gas system lengths.
