Very nice. Thank you. Did you have to wait on that barrel? I saw that one, but none in stock.

I wanna say it took a few weeks. But I ordered a 20" barrel at the same time. Not sure if one or the other may have caused a longer turn around time.

Email them to see what the wait time might be maybe. Good guys when I asked a ton of questions.

I don't have any pics yet, but will soon have an M5 FDE build started off (upper, lower, keymod rail). What are you guys doing for BCG's? Are the NiB Aero ones worth a damn or should I look into Rainier and WMD?

I picked up the Aim NiB BCG. It looks amazing, better than their 5.56 NiB ones IMO in terms of machining finish. Yet to shoot it yet tho...

How are these running? I'm kind of rough on guns and run the hard. I've hard Armalite, DPMS and CMMG; they failed to satisfy and didn't run so well. Anyway, are these reliable enough to get through a carbine course?

Is this directed more towards their complete guns or the builds featured here? As far as the builds featured here I think it is obviously going to weigh heavily on the components you use. The receivers seem to be of excellent quality themselves. I'm testing this one out later today after moving some parts around.

Just a heads up to those building with a M5 lower, you must use the Aero pivot and takedown pins. I tried using DPMS pins and the pivot pin did not clear both holes in the lower. The takedown pin had a smaller OD and was shorter, resulting in an excess amount of receiver slop. The Aero pins fit properly, and the receiver slop between a M5 upper and lower is nearly negligible.

I bought a nice set off eBay that fit my lower perfectly

DPM Extended EZ Push (Enhanced Feature) TDP pins, detents, springs (2) 308

DPM also makes an extended mag release button.

Not for everyone but it's an option.

I just don't get it, maybe some people just don't need my money....

After visiting the above site and also trying to buy a gas block that came back outof-stock at checkout, I received an email from the guy saying he thinks he has one in stock just the same - will GBTM the next day.

Days go by and I email him, call him, leave VM, throw a shoe his direction... nothing. Then I finally get a hold of him again, explain what I want and he says again he has one and will locate it and get back - he's got my email, phone but still nothing... and this is a local call. I think he must make these himself and must just busy on a muffler job

Too bad, I really like that product - can't find it anywhere else for that price- not even his site.

Everyone is going to tell you to go buy a really rediculously expensive gas block, but if you are trying to save money the B.T.E. gas blocks are pretty damn nice.

I have used 4 of these B.T.E. micro gas blocks on different builds and they work great. I personally like the stainless steel clamp on style and for $45 you cant beat the performance.

I have the B.T.E. Micro Adjustable on my Aero M5 and it works great!

B.T.E. Gas Block

THANKS for that link - I have been looking for a lower cost clamp-on adj block and that one looks to be the ticket.

I ordered the pins from AP and they work as they should, IIRC the front pivot pin is the one that is a little longer -the rear is the same as DPMS but it you gotta order one you may as well order the set.

My M5 lower doesn't have any play wiggle in the safety - you might try a different selector. The mag button is a little out from fully seated but it too is secure and doesn't wiggle.

One other thing to be aware of is that some grips, such as various Ergo brand with 'wings' that wrap up next to the trigger guard won't fit due to their brilliant decision to put their cutsy logo there insteas of a little further up.

Almost there.... goal was to build an mil-inspired (M110/Mk11 Mod Oish) 20" 308 for general purpose at the range (usually 100m or less, might have access out to 600m) and will likely pop a deer or hog once completely.

Aero M5 receiver set
Aero M5 BCG
Aero M5 LPK
Seekins Billet Mag Release
RRA A2 stock/buffer tube
DPMS 308 action spring and 308 buffer
DPMS SPR plate
Rainier 20" Rifle, 1/11, Select Barrel
Knight's URX II rail
Ergo Grip

still need:
gas block
gas tube
muzzle device
send it off to have the rail shaved and installed by BoltCarrier

will add a matech rear sight and nikon scope w/ burris pepr mount to finish off the sights once all put together

has anyone run an adjustable gas block in combo with an SR25 URX rail? I'm curious to see how an adjustable looks but also holds up without being protected under the rail instead of a simple low pro.

Things haven't been going as quickly as I wanted on my build, but I did get some new goodies from Ares Armor for my M5.  They have a short throw safety for $40 and an extended latch charging handle on sale for $36.  For the money I couldn't be happier.  The levers have some print on them I'm not overjoyed about but some sandpaper and some elbow grease will cure that.  The charging handle  works as well as any BCM I've used on my AR-15s.  Some photos for reference.

I'd definitely recommend it to anyone on a budget.   The levers on the safety are Poly, but it seems to function fine.  Minimal play, same as the one that came with my LPK from Aero.  Charging handle is excellent.  Good fit, lever is nice, works well.  ETA: also went with a K2 grip.

No fitment issues, but it doesn't sit flush to the receiver. Look into the SLR handguards, similar design but sit flush.

Honestly as long as the top rail is continuous I don't care about the gap for the barrel nut. That looks pretty darn good to me.

Great group! I also have the stainless select, but a 20". I've only taken it out twice so far and have only gotten 1.5-2" groups with 168's. I was a bit disappointed (especially with their sub MOA guarantee) but I still have to try 175's this weekend. Hopefully they will fly as good as yours. Did you measure any 5 shot groups with the 175's?

On the takedown/pivot pins....

I went up to Tacoma yesterday (SAA) and matched a M5 lower to my M5 upper.
I think found a pin source other than Aero...

https://www.primaryarms.com/KNS_Precision_308_Standard_Pivot_Pin_p/kns308pivotpin.htm

https://www.primaryarms.com/KNS_Precision_308_Standard_Take_Down_Pin_p/kns308takedownpin.htm

I knew that Aero was beginning to use pins made by KNS and saw these while I was ordering a PRS.
I wasn't sure if these new Aero pins were a "special run" just for Aero, though.
Testing the PA/KNS pins on my bare receivers, I'd say these must be the same pins Aero is shipping.
Projection seems to be normal for both pins on both sides.
No sunken heads, no difficulty pushing the pins out.
Note that these are not fully assembled and under spring load, but I anticipate no issues with these pins.

On the bolt catch....

Aero appears to be using a stock DPMS photo on the product page.
I'm guessing that it's just a DPMS catch.
I am going to try a garden-variety, DPMS LR308 bolt catch from another source.

Does anybody know if the 7.62 Raptor charging handle will fit in the M5? I'm a southpaw, so I definitely need an ambi charging handle.

The Raptor fits just fine.  Some people had issues with the BCM charging handles early on.

Perfect. Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I heard about the newer BCM handles rubbing on the receiver. BCM doesn't make an ambi handle is 7.62, so no worries there.

That's good to hear. Perhaps BCM modified their handles slightly or went back to the older design to be compatible with the A5.

What bolt catch is everyone using?

I've tried Armalite (had to modify it to not hit carrier). Still didn't work right 100%. Wouldn't work on IMI Mags because it completely misses the follower on the mag.

Ordered one from Aero and their bolt catch seems a tad short. The tab that sticks out that catches the follower on the mag seems a little short. It barely catches the follower on Magpul mags and IMI mags.

Well that sucks.
I have a DPMS bolt catch en route.

At least there is less drama with the set screw pivot pin if you have to change out a bolt catch on the large frame.

Until you strip the allen screw like I did. Found a place I think KAC armory that sells the set screws.

I currently have a CMMG 308 parts kit bolt catch release that functions properly in my M5 Aero. My Aero factory bolt catch did not lock the bolt back, even though it appeared to have the required modification of the 45 degree angle on the outer corner that folks have had problems with.
