In the manner the rifle I'm assuming you're asking about is done, it's to mount a scope in normal rings further forward without "bridging the gap" , or to have a scope and NV/Thermal clip-on in line without one being on the handguard and possibly being affected by a rest or bipod. Or just user preference.

Since I have an arms #38 on my mk12 mod 1 Sgt. Miller clone, I used my arms #36 on the 308 version. twinsies.
Will be using arms #22 medium rings for the eventual oversized scope unless I can't get it to fit.

Same reason the one I quoted on the last page has a rail on a rail.

Does anyone have any accuracy reports from the Aero barrels? I've combed through this thread and haven't been able to find anything. I'd like to buy a factory upper just for the warranty, simply because of issues I've read about with people putting them together and the gun then not running correctly. Otherwise I may just buy a receiver/builders set and give it a whirl on my own.

I got the Aero complete upper. 16" stainless steel barrel. This is the from my first time shooting it. 12 shots at 50 yards and using the factory trigger and steel cased ammo. I'm sure that some combination of better trigger and more practice and better form on my part will get it tighter.

Yeah I bought the set right after my kiddo was born and then we started adding on the house this last year so hopefully 2017 is the year to finish what I've started.

Okay so I need to vent a bit.

I bought an Aero Tiger builders kit and I'm stoked to build it out.

I decided that this build would be a high end build and started picking out and up parts. I grabbed a Geiselle SSA-E on Black friday and then wandered over to JP Rifles site and saw they were having a good sale as well. I put together the stuff I wanted then noticed they had a Barrel Kit that they offered and was actually priced lower. So I went ahead, built it out via that and submitted it. Last Monday I tried to call and pay them so they could start, but they werent taking calls because of the orders from BF and CM. I get that, no big deal. I tried again Tuesday and Wednesday to no avail. I sent an email on Tuesday, like they said on the recording, asking them to please let me know how I could pay them so the kit would be started and if the barrel kits were part of their 15% off promotion. No reply.

Today, I finally called back and still couldn't get anyone on the phone, so I sent an email again. I got an email from the General Manager that said...

Barrel kits were not included in the sale.

No thanks for your business or order, no here is how you pay or what to do. Just a half ass attempt at an answering my questions.

I'm usually not one to complain and I get they are busy, but are you too busy to 1. answer an email in a timely manner, or the phone. 2. Really not that concerned about a $1000 order?

It genuinely makes me want to take my business elsewhere.

So I installed my leftover BCM keymod pic-rail onto my M5 in anticipation of deciding what bipod to get for my rifle.

What's everyone's suggestion?

I run a Harris on my bolt gun and picked up an Atlas for my M5 build. I'm pretty impressed with the Atlas, extremely high quality but then again it should be for the price. I scored mine on the EE for a heavy discount over retail, may want to look there first.

blem uppers: i bought a couple blem stripped uppers, black, a few months back, very nice, couldn't find the blem. they were actually nicer than some regular non-blem uppers i bought from a major reseller a year ago.

but, YMMV.

[#24]
Standard Aero M5 16" MLok upper with A2 flash hider
80% Arms 308 lower
CMMG LPK
LAW Tactical folding adapter
Magpul ACS-L
Steiner P4Xi 1-4 in ADM 1.93 mount (had it available).

Got it rough sighted in today (only 20 rounds due to being up against the wall on an indoor range and feeling bad for the guy next to me). Ran 100%. I didn't have the bipod attached. Felt much softer-shooting than the SCAR-17 I had previously (which had a massive brake). Maybe due to the M5's longer hanguard adding some weight out front and allowing me to get my support arm further out. Rifle was staying flat but moving a little to the right in recoil, so I think I need to move it inboard or just square up and man up a little more.

While I like the high mount on an AR, on this rifle it doesn't seem quite right. I have to use closer to a chin weld on the ACS-L stock. I have high cheekbones so a cheek weld puts my head pretty low. Don't expect to be using my DBAL on this rifle (never say never I guess) but maybe a lower mount is in the cards (and/or a 1-5 or 1-6 scope)!

I suppose I missed out on most of the fun building only from a stripped lower using a complete upper in 6.5C. It is a beast for sure, but great shooter.

I got mine together and have shot it with irons until I got the scope and mount.
Faxon 18 heavy fluted.
JP rifle spring, H3 standard buffer.
Geissele ssa-e
mostly Aero parts.
Very happy with it and can't wait to shoot with glass.

I got two build kits and plan on a 16" build with a Faxon / Dragon combo.
No ftf or anything related and it seems to be getting smoother as the round count goes up.
I wish I had seen the 5.56 Faxon barrels before my other builds.

Well, i made a thing.

"Needs" some glass and a short bipod. The gun doesn't have much of a purpose other than "just because" lol

Had it cerakoted locally with hybrid ATACS AU/FG color. Its predominantly tan/brown/fde though, just have a shitty camera.

Specs

Aero M5 set
JP LMOS carrier, no bolt yet
Faxon 416R 16" mid .308
Seekins FH
Odin adjustable block
Apex 10.6" tube
Geiselllelelele SD-C (its glorious)
BCM large handle
Aero lightweight 30mm mount
Aero LPK
Hogue "ghillie" grip in tan, came out a bit darker than expected

Came in at 7.80lbs so far. Was hoping for a little less, oh well. I really wish BCM made an LR308 compatible magnesium/al rail, i'd buy one immediately.

Plan to toss on a 2.5-10 or 4-16 PST later. Hope the Aero mount holds up well for it, i've read several instances of their mounts cracking on 308. Hope they're flukes

Has anyone had trouble installing an SLR handguard on their 308 Aero Precision upper? My handguard doesn't make contact with the upper receiver because the pin holding the ejection port cover is too long. Probably a simple fix but not sure why that pin protrudes past the receiver to begin with..
