here's a pic of my M5 with a BA 308 barrel with the M4 feed ramps.

https://i837.photobucket.com/albums/zz300/rpol98/G%20and%20A/P1020295_zpsjjq2nh2y.jpg

Thanks, guess I'll have to look elsewhere.

It's super easy to match the Aero feed ramps to the barrel. This is my Rainier Select 18" barrel as I was in the middle of filing the upper to match. The right feed ramp (left in the pic) is the original Aero feed ramp.

And after

Took about five minuets per ramp to carefully work over with a Swiss file. Then a little polishing with a felt bob on a Dremel. It's hard to get a good pic with the iPhone.
It should be noted that the rifle ran just fine with the feed ramps as they were but I wanted them to match up. As the rounds are loaded from the mag they don't touch the ramp in the upper receiver.

My hat is off to you for that. I thought about using a tapered stone bit on the Dremel but didn't have the guts to try. It took a while to work up the courage to try to sneak up on it with the half-round file.

i was just wondering, if you remove the factory black hard-coat anodize, is the exposed bare aluminum softer than the provided factory surface treatment?  and subject to getting pounded by bullet tips going up the ramp?  just wondering.

at the same time, i know that this is a common modification.

My rifle is done I have a few questions about Optics and sights. Do you have BUIS with a scope? I have ordered a Vortex viper scope that is on backorder, Since it is magnified would iron sights be worth it. I am looking at the cheap magpul and diamondhead BUIS.

What's wrong in the pic?

what's wrong in the pic?  i guess poor photo lighting skills.  but the gun functions perfectly despite the poor photography skills.  JK.

i thought the upper receiver feed ramps mated very well with barrel extension feed ramps.  no complaints there.

Im looking to build another .308 and these look promising. How are the tolerances on these sets? I hate when a receiver set wiggles back and forth.

There's a set screw in the lower to take up any slop in the fit between the upper and lower.

is there a lot of slop that needs to be taken up? I have a seekins lower that has the set screw and it still has some wiggle on the front takedown pin with my aero upper.

Some slop is a trade off of the design. The set screw does help, if it really bothers you.

Aero posted in industry section that they should have the new gen 2 M5 uppers available within the next two weeks. Receiver sets were said to be months out due to back orders for the lowers which comes first before putting any on site available as sets.

Follow up on my build.  I had cycling issues with mine and turns out it was the buffer.  I contacted KAK Industry.  President of the company responded which surprised me.  He sent me one of their buffers.  I installed and now it runs like a top.  He was very helpful.  I originally used a Radical Firearms 308 buffer.  Not enough umpf to get the bolt back into battery.  If you go with KAK industry for the bolt and barrel,  use their buffer as well!

What barrels are you guys using for your builds ? I have a Aero upper , lower and bolt carrier for a start now thinking about a 20" barrel. Do they accept any DPMS style barrel ?
Thanks Ed
