Anyone know where to get an m5 stripped lower? Seems like they are out of stock everywhere

I'm in the same boat. I have damn near everything but the stripped lower.

I ran into that same problem back in Dec '15.  Himmed and hawed at getting a complete and decided to get one anyway, I already have like 3 LPK's. Soon I as bought one they went out of stock and came back a few weeks later.

IMO you are best to check their site often and be ready to pull the trigger as soon as one is posted as in stock.  .

What barrel nut wrench are you guys using to get over the BA barrel. I tried using my Gem state and the barrel is too big.

What barrel nut/rail are you using?  Most large frame ARs use a proprietary wrench or something other than a standard armorer's wrench.

Yup the barrel is bulled out I use the gem state tool. I just ordered a PRI 308 barrel nut wrench, I hope it works.

How many rounds do you have on the phase 5?  I want to build an aero for a duty rifle, but the bolt release issues are scaring me.  Might go with a Armalite def10 instead.

I had a CMMG 308 bolt catch from a 308 lower parts kit that worked fine in my Aero M5 receiver. I bought the Aero bolt catch later and it did not function properly in terms of locking the bolt back on a Pmag magazine, unlike the CMMG one. I have since replaced it with a Phase 5 extended bolt release, which I also have had no problems with so far.

I only have about 250 rounds through my Aero M5 308, so no data here on the long term reliability of the Phase 5 bolt release. This was recommended to me by other members on this site.

Built today

Waiting for shims for flash hider, was shipped with crush washer that was wrong size

Pivot pin screwed me, was too tight and couldn't get it to function. Tried sanding it down but ultimately ended up cutting it and hammering it out. Have email into aero

Had to sand down ejection port cover rod to get rail to sit tight to receiver

All in all pretty happy, hope it shoots nice

Okay you can add Gem state AR wrench and Precision reflex to barrel nut wrenches that work on a Ballistic barrel/ Rainier arms switch barrel nut. The gem state doesn't go over the barel and the PR barrel nut wrench doesnt line up with the holes on the nyt. I was trying to get this thing done and get shooting this week but I guess that is not going to happen. I might just post it on the EE and get a M1A and call it a day I have been trying to get this thing together for 2 weeks just to find out the tools don't work and order another one and wait another week.  If anyone is looking for one please pm me, it would be a whole rifle deal no parting. unless someone knows something about barrel nuts.

I didn't read all 31 pages, but am wondering if anyone has used the KAK 16" budget barrel? They are typically $150, but currently $125.

I had to order one at that price.

Finally got the my latest Aero M5 308 build out to the range. Always love shooting the 308. Very easy to get the Anderson adjustable gas block set up. It adjust from the front, ala SLR's (the best), but cost a lot less. Don't have to take the handguard off to adjust either. Bushnell 4-12 AR BDC dialed in great. Got to do a something with the trigger. Had light primer strikes. Probably due to the JP springs. Gonna get a RRA NM. The KAK barrel ran great!
Ran some extra Wolf steel case I had laying around. I figure if I can get that to run, anything will.

Here is 10@100 yrds off hand with a bipod. The flyers were all me, but at least I was consistent in my flinching! It was pretty windy as well.

Aero Builder set.
Aero / B A 18" SS barrel, alumhyde black
UBR
BTE tanker CH
MOE grip (ugh)
Milspec LPK
Aero pins
DPMS bolt catch
Seekins mag release
Seekins adjustable gas block (had it on hand - would rather have a front adjusting)
toolcraft BCG (next time - nitride)
Larue MBT 2S
Troy HK style folding sights
Brake off amazon. JP clone I think
DPMS Spring and buffer.

Just needs an optic. Sighted it in with irons and played around for about 100 rounds. No failures after gas block was adjusted.

Let us know how well it shoots please. I have almost exactly the same setup, but with AP 12" MLOK handguard. Using the 16" KAK budget barrel. I am just waiting on said handguard to arrive and I will be able to test fire.

I took it to the range last week and test fires were a disaster.  Narrowed the issue down to gas block alignment.  Hopefully a re do this week!

Finished my M5 build-up project this past weekend; I wanted to build it identically to my precision AR15 (the lower AR in the picture). I still need to cerakote the barrel, and I've got a 6-24x50 PST coming in that will replace the Leupold VX3 in the picture.

This was my first venture in the LR308 world, and it's different than the 5-6 AR15s I've built up in the past. Aside from all the differences with the LPKs, I had issues getting the magpul MIAD grip to fit with all but one of the rear inserts.

I'm hoping this thing is a shooter; I've got enough cash tied up in it where it ought to.

Specs:
Aero Precision Stripped Upper Lower Set
Aero Precision NiB BCG
20" Lilja .260 Remington Barrel
SLR 7-Series Adjustable Gas Block
15" SLR Solo 308 Rail
Aero Precision LPK
Timney Trigger
Magpul PRS Stock
Magpul MIAD grip
SilencerCo ASR Brake
American Defense 20MOA QD mount

I bought a Rainier match barrel for my 5.56 pistol and was so happy with it that I'm gonna go with them for my .308 barrel.
Upper and LPK will be Aero Precision and maybe even muzzle break if I can find a deal on one.
Probably gonna go with a tubular handguard because the only thing I'll be attaching to it is a bipod
As for glass I've had good results with all of my Vortex optics so I'll likely go that route for this as well.

I have the Crossfire II with BDC reticle if I'm not mistaken? It was dead nuts on right out of the box and has held zero perfectly. This was on a 5.56 rifle though so I'm not totally sure how it'll handle the increased recoil of .308

I also have a Sparc II and Strikefire II which have both been awesome. I had an EOTECH before and honestly I prefer the Vortex optics  Just my .02

That's good to know, I had a eotech and did the refund option and got a m21 which I like but didn't really think about the washout issue which has become a problem with the only solution being a little light but the battery life is terrible. I was looking a lot at the strike fire and the sparc ar.

For the life of me, I could not find much in the way of accuracy results for the stock Aeroprecision M5E1. So, I just had to build up my own to find out. I present to you my "almost" stock build with some real world testing, on the bench at 100 yards with a 10-15 crosswind.

Ingredients:
- M5E1 lower receiver using Aero's LPK
- M5E1 16" .308 CMV complete upper
- Magpul CTR stock & MOE grip
- Geissele 2GS trigger
- Kahntrol Systems HexMod brake
- Nikon M-308 4-16 BDC 800 scope
- Harris Bipod w/ PrimaryWeapons mount.

10 lbs. (as pictured, without ammo)

First and Second Set: Sierra GameKing using 150gr 41gr. Vihtavuori N135 with first the shot group was 0.75 MOA (to the right). After adjusting the windage, the second group was 1.25 MOA including the flyer.

Third Time's the Charm: Hornady A-MAX 168gr using 40gr. Vihtavuori N135 helped make a 4 shot group at 0.60 MOA. I didn't want to push my luck with a 5 shot group. :-)

By request of another member I'll post some photos of my M5 build, completed last year (my original build thread was archived).  This build took my first deer this year.

Final build list:
-Aero M5 receivers
-Aero LPK
-Aero BCG
-Geisselle SSA
-Knight Armament Co URX II rail
-Rainier Arms Select 1/11 Twist stainless barrel
-Surefire Brake
-SLR Sentry7 Adj. GB - melonite
-SLR melonite Gas tube
-Ergo Grip
-Rock River Arms Buffer tube
-Cav Arms C1 (A1) stock
-DPMS SPR plate
-DPMS AR10 buffer and spring
-Matech rear sight
-Delton/PRI charging handle
-Seekins Billet Mag Release button
-Upper assembled By Boltcarrier.com (KAC armorer)
-Nikon 3-9x40 Prostaff BDC reticle on a Burris Pepr mount (it was pulled from a previous hunting AR setup).
-Caldwell Bipod Adapter
-Harris Bipod (can't remember the model, bought it super cheap off of EE)
-Fancy Rustoleum Paint Job (Camo Khaki/Camo Earth Brown with a faint hint of Camo Deep Forest Green, all colors left over from a rattle can multi-cam job on another build from years ago).

It was all black until yesterday when I figured I'd give it the rattle can treatment.  (The previous owner of the Rail had it painted and I was unable to remove all the paint, several of the parts such as the bipod, rear sight, SPR butt plate, etc were well worn and used as well.)

I'm sorry if this has been asked, I googled it for 45 minutes and could not find a discussion about it. Aero precisions website states that their M5 uppers have M4 feed ramps, is this a typo? I'm looking for a forged 308 upper to put my Larue predatar barrel in because I'm swapping it with a Larue 260 barrel when available. I was hoping to use the aero upper because the price is right.
Thanks

It was all black until yesterday when I figured I'd give it the rattle can treatment.  (The previous owner of the Rail had it painted and I was unable to remove all the paint, several of the parts such as the bipod, rear sight, SPR butt plate, etc were well worn and used as well.)
