These builds look great. I'll post mine soon hopefully. My upper is complete but Aero sent me a scope mount without bolts and clamp and still no lower to my ffl. After many emails and phone calls I'm starting to lose faith in them. Recent Facebook reviews on them don't give me much hope. Hopefully they step it up. I've been pumped for this build forever and it's going south.

I'm in the process of building mine as well. Going to build a 7mm08 first and then build an upper in .308 as well eventually.

I just took possession of my Aero M5 Upper/Lower combo last week.

Need more specs of what buffer, buffer tube, bolt carrier, bolt, and lower/upper parts ya'll are using. This way we can know what works well with these builds.

Thanks

The jury is still out on that because I didn't have much time and only got to shoot at 50 yards.
Once I got it on paper I managed to shoot two 3/4" groups, which isn't great, but at the same time, I didn't have the best rest and the standard trigger leaves a lot to be desired.

Out of about 35-40 rounds, I had 4 or 5 FTF where the bullet was pointed up and smashed into the top of the barrel extention.  I'm thinking this may be an issue where the BCG is traveling too fast because of excess gas with the match ammo.  I suspect using surplus 7.62 or adjusting my gas block will correct this issue.

My main purpose yesterday was to get out of the house and get the rifle on paper.  I'm gonig shooting next week and will have more time to tweak things.

I can see an upgraded trigger in this rifles future.

First time going past 100 yards with the new Aero build. Steel was set ~450 yards out. Thought the group was nice considering I am not a spectacular shooter by any means.
JP adjustable gas block paired with a H3 buffer and heavy spring make for a smooth shooting rifle.

What takedown pins are you guys using? I dont like that mine are so recessed, but I dont want to spend almost $30 for the Aero takedown pins.

What about it? BCM 762 CH handle worked fine in my Aero receivers. Apparently there's two different versions of it. One that fits and one that has extra material on the bottom that needs to be filed away in order to make it fit. Apparently I got lucky and the vendor I bought mine form had older versions in stock.

What stock is that?
Also do the Geisselle AR15 triggers fit?
Anyone using a Raptor CH, or know if they fit?

Anyone know how much the Rainier select 18" barrel is with mil discount?

All I have is the upper/lower set, BCG, and scope mount. At this rate I should be putting lead on target by next Christmas.

-16" ranier match barrel

-12" fortis switch (slight gap between rail and receiver but i can live with it)

-AP upper/lower

-radical firearms BCG

-SSA trigger

-griffin flash comp

-BCM mod 4 CH- too small of a latch for the 308 and I had to dremel the bottom of it to make it fit. In hindsight, i would have preferred a raptor but I heard there a fit issues with it as well (hopefully someone can confirm or deny)

-I bought the 308 buffer kit and takedown/pivot pin from AP, i didnt want to mess around with some of the sizing issues ive read about. standard LPK for everything else. mag release fits fine for me but i dont have the standard button so i cant see how much of it is threaded (but functions 100%)
its an older pic, the vortex is gone, its currently wearing an aimpoint pro until i find something else (id like to get a 3-9x scope)

Thanks, I'd to get the optic situation figured out soon, however after just going on vacation in the FL keys and the holidays, my disposable income in a bit short.  I may end up just getting a Nikon or Aero 1" AR mount for the time being.

Sorry, I'm not familiar with Pac-Bog.  I'm currently riding an 2002 X1W.

I bought an Aero lpk, which had their pins in it.  I was under the impression that the front was the only one that was different.  The pin is something like $8, and if you call them, I think they can quote you a cheaper price for shipping than the website will.

I will say that my had more recoil than I expected, but I have not yet tuned the gas block.

Got the lower in tonight and put it together.  I now totally understand the BCM Gunfighter fit issue, off to the dremel tool tomorrow.  Right now without the bolt and charging handle installed I have a good bit of slop between the upper and lower. I am hoping that once the bolt is in and it is has some resistance from the buffer/spring pushing on it that it will tighten up, probably wishful thinking.  If not I guess I am going to have to get an accuwedge.  I don't understand why Aero did not put a tension bolt in the lower receiver.  I keep looking at my Rainier Arms 556 forged lower that has a tension screw and it pisses me off.  Oh well...here are some pics

Got my fde cerakoted upper and fully assembled lower from Schuyler Arms.

Received my fde cerakoted SLR lite handguard in the mail literally today.

Also, I have the Lantac dragon muzzle brake and BCM mod 3 charging handle. I still need a barrel, gas block, gas tube, BCG, a different buttstock, grip, Primary Arms 4-14X44 FFP ACSS HUD DMR .308 Scope, and possibly magpul flip up sights.

Speaking of the BCM charging handle not fitting the Aero upper/lower. I took some nice detailed photos displaying that. Yeah, doesnt fit. I guess I'll need to sand down those lip/edges. Check it out!

How do you guys get your pictures to show up rather than links??

Thanks!!

Well I started the build.  Took a while to get the parts together but im still under the 800 dollar mark with everything.  Just waiting on some Items to come in the mail.  Should be here before Christmas.

- Lower -

Aero Precision M5 .308 Stripped Lower Receiver FDE/Desert
DPMS AR10 .308 A2 Rifle buffer tube/buffer/spring kit
MAGPUL PRS AR-10 SNIPER STK FDE
308 Lower Receiver Parts Kit DPMS Specs

- Pivot pin in the front is slightly smaller but works fine.  Just doesn't stick out all the way.  (All the good Aero Pins/Bolt Catch are Back Ordered

- Upper -

Aero Precision M5 .308 Stripped Upper Receiver FDE/Desert
.308 BCG Weapon Enhancement Solutions
WESGUNS - 16" 308 416R SST 1:10 Twist Barrel
308/7.62 Forward Assist + Parts
DPMS 308 Aero Precision .750" Low Profile Gas Block
JP SuperComp® XL Muzzle Brake .308 7.62x51
Aero Precision Midlength Gas Tube
BCM - 7.62 & .308 - LONG ( Mod 3 ) - Gunfighter Charging Handle
Fortis Switch 12" Handgard

Not that all bad to assemble one of these bad Larry's.  I have built a standard AR15, but wanted a 308 because why not...

I am waiting for the barrel, bolt carrier group, stock, BCM charging handle to finish the build..

Now also debating on optics plus 45 degree iron sites...

Completed

Rifle wasn't suppose to be completed after 30 days, told the wife i would take a year to acquire the parts needed.  But with all the Black Friday, Cyber Monday and before Xmas sales i just kept the finger on the trigger and purchased away...

Still stoked im just under the 800 mark.

Debating on what optic to buy for 300-500.  Dont know if i want a scope or a redot.   I can get Eotech -  Holographic Hybrid Sight II (HHS II) has an EXPS2-2 with a G33.STS magnifier new for 400 and some change with my discount and connections.

what do all you think  of the first lr308 build?

Hey thanks man!!

I thought that as well why my pics are links and not showing up. However, a few posts up a guy has like 10 posts and his pics are not links, what gives??

Anyone else know how to get your pics to show up?? This is really annoying me. Thank you!

Nice rifle,

On photobucket, make sure you use the IMG link. It should start with [URL=  rather than  http://.

Thanks for the reaponse. I don't know what is up with the pics not showing up. I have tried both (img and direct) options on photobucket to post images. Still no dice! So annoying.

Not trying to turn this into a hate thread but I was wondering if anyone else has to return an Aero M5 set like it did?

I'm gonna sell my m5 upper receiver and buy the railed m5 upper. Anyone have recommendations on a really good 16" sub MOA barrel and BCG?
