I'm interested in picking up a 300 for hunting deer here in NC.
From what I know about the round, a supersonic load is very close to a 30-30 or a light 308 load.

As most of my hunting is in dense woods and I rarely would even consider a shot beyond 200 yards, I'm thinking that it would suit my needs perfectly.

(Plus its a good excuse to get into reloading. )

I use mine...the vmax bullet and the Barnes vor-tx are devastating.

110 v-max are great I have also had success with nosler 110 grain varmageddons at 2200 fps . and this was shot with outlaw state 225 grain expanding subs at 1050 fps .

Nosler 125 ballistic green tip kills em deader than shit feet up in the air. Killed three last season and I was pretty shocked at the knockdown power but then I'm killing 250# boars with the same ammo no problem. Using the supers suppressed confused the last two I shot as the third wasn't sure wtf had happened to the second. He ran about 50 yds and stopped. Mistake.

First one was approx 150yds from an elevated position and I barely found the entrance wound, no exit.  Second was a stalk up and shoot about 50 yds through the shoulder and third was 100ish shoulder shot.

I've not shot deer in 10yrs with a gun. Fairly surprised how hard hey went down.

It's a great round for deer, as already said, the 110 gr Barnes bullets create devastating wounds.  Just realize that your hunting range is going to be limited to around 200, maybe 250 yards with supersonic loads.  Beyond that you will have to account for a lot of bullet drop, I'm not comfortable doing large hold overs on a game animal I'm trying to make a clean kill on.

Total of 3 deer with the 300 Whisper and 8 with the 300BLK.  Also 2 coyotes and 3 hogs with the 300BLK.  Hit the vitals and it will do fine.  I use hand loaded Nosler 125gr Ballistic Tip bullets.

I plan on using 125 sst this year, but also loaded up some 110 varmageddon.  I thinking both will work just fine.

Two 125SST kills from last year. Will be adding more this year.

My daughters shot was 180yds, full broadside penetration and 1" exit wound, massive blood trail 20yds long. My shot was 25yds, no blood trail, no exit wound, deer went 30yds.
Bullet hit a rib and blew up, was not found.
