Aside from the barrel, what must be changed to convert an AR15 chambered for 556 MM to .300 Blackout?

Only the barrel.

...and most of your .223 upper the first time a .300BO round sneaks in amongst your .223 ammo

I read the thread about something similar a few weeks ago somewhere on AR15.COM.  So the barrel is the only thing.  I am assuming that the case is the same dimensions in the backend as the 5.56 or .223.  That is good to know.  Does anyone know where I can find .300 Black Out barrels?

Not, sure what you mean by 'backend'? The .300 has a shorter case. It is shorten at the neck & shoulder, if that is what you mean.

The 300BLK case is derived from the 556.

I make my 300blk brass from 556 brass

For low cost and high quality........give SOTA arms a call.......I purchased one of their barrels.......phosphated 16 inch Black out barrels and have been pleased.........I think I paid 129.00 plus 12.00 shipping......more than reasonable and have had a lot of fun trying different reloads.........

Killed my first Deer today with this barrel.........125 Nosler ballistic tip.......got the job done.................

The flash hider is different also, don't forget to order one if it doesn't come with your bbl.

Good thinking! Yes, you will need to get one of them too! For a 308 dia. bullet.
