THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT I am looking at both Syrac and Seekins for my 300 BLK build. Parts list: Spikes Stripped upper Core 15 9" 300 BLK barrel Core 15 Pistol gas tube Troy 7.6 or Seekins battle rail YHM Phantom FH or AAC 51T FS Spikes lower w/ Spikes LPK BCM BCG BCM Gunfighter CH This is a pistol for now but will be a SBR in the near future. Seekins is MUCH cheaper but I know Spikes uses the Syrac in their builds...any huge disadvantage of going with the cheaper option? ETA: Another question...Do I have to use a clamp on style gas block if my barrel is not dimpled for set screws ? ETA2: It will also eventually be suppressed. |

Syrac (AKA Spike's, AR Stoner, etc) - Uses a detent to keep the adjustments from ever changing without direct input from the user.
Seekins - Uses a set-screw to hold the (set-screw) adjustment, which could back-out over time and rounds down range. No. You don't NEED dimples to run a set-screw gas block, but they offer added peace-of-mind. |

Try the new one from SLR rifleworks. Ive been running one for about a month now and like everything about it. I had one of the Spike's(syrac) units and got tired of having to push in one button while trying to turn the adjustment screw. The one from SLR is still front adjustable but has a internal detent system so no button to push and no locking screw. It just "clicks" when you turn the adjustment screw. Here's a link to the site in case you are interested. SLR gas block
ETA: Depending on your location in Fl I might be able to show my gas block to you. Just PM me if need be |

So does the SLR adjustment screw unscrew with detent clicks all the way out of the housing? It says 4 turns with 3 clicks per turn (12 total) from full off to wide open, assuming "off" is screwed all the way in and bottomed out, then unscrew 12 turns to wide open, continue to unscrew to remove adjustment screw for cleaning?

I have been happy with the kies gas block. Set screws on the bottom. It doesn't haveany detents just a screw to adjust the gas. I have never had it loosen up.
Plus it also uses a screw for the gas tube pin instead if a roll pin. made installations a little easier. |

The crew from SLR has helped me with a few builds. Check with them on what you need they are first class and make great products!!

That SLR GB looks interesting. Too bad my next three builds are all light-weights, otherwise I'd give it a try.

Not 12 turns. EDIT: Just to clear things up a little. The adjustment screw will come out if you turn it approximately 4 more turns after the initial 12 clicks from closed. The screw goes right back in the same way. No parts to fall out or anything like that. |
