Are they specific to .308 AR or will AR15 (5.56) lower parts work in a 308 lower ?

Thanks in advance , sorry if this question seems silly , but I want to be sure

The trigger, hammer, pins, and disconnect are all the same as the mil spec AR15 trigger group. Most of the .308 platforms use a heavier hammer and trigger spring. If you are thinking of dropping in a modular setup there are some that may not fit in the .308 reciever most will I believe.

The DPMS LR-308 lower will take the same trigger group parts as the std. mil spec AR-15...the hammer and trigger springs are slightly stiffer on the 308 version...
the bolt catch and pin are different as well as the buffer, buffer spring, bcg, barrel nut, barrel extension etc. are obviously different as well...

If you're comparing one LPK from an AR15 to a DPMS 308 LPK, there are 4 functionally different parts:

Pivot pin
Takedown Pin
Bolt Catch
Bolt Catch set screw

A standard AR15 hammer spring is sufficient to power the hammer in a .308 gun, but I like the JP spring for the AR10 from their trigger, or a Geissele dropped-in.

OK well , I upgraded my trigger with a JP spring kit and a Spikes battle trigger ( NiB coated parts )
Based on my research this combo should yield a 4.5lb trigger.
Went together no issues , seems to function fine
Feells better than stock . I plan to take the trigger comments that came out and play with them a little with some minor improvements and an over travel screw.
Some good threads on this forum have made this look easy :)

Wondering the same thing. I've seen a thread on here by doing a different search, but I can't seem to locate it now, but it talked about which drop in trigger groups worked in the DPMS LR308. One of them was a little long and something needed to be filed down, i think the Timney was supposed to drop right in, but I'm not sure. Installing a trigger is beyond my skill set, but doing a drop in trigger doesn't seem like it would be that hard to figure out. I want to go to a 2 stage trigger. I don't like the trigger that came on the DPMS (it may be 2 stage, but I don't like it). Can someone please point me in the direction of that thread or simply reply here? Thanks.

Narrow down which of the drop in's you like and go from there. If you find one in a price range you are happy with contact the manufacturer directly and ask if it will fit. For me the JP adjustable trigger and speed hammer work very well. Install was not that bad really. The trigger comes with a dvd to walk you through the install and set up. A trigger made for an AR15 used in the LR308 may have too light of hammer spring causing light primer strikes. Other than that there's no reason to believe the AR15 variety would not work. On commercial ammo it probably wouldn't be an issue but mil spec or steel case may be another story. Most of the good trigger setups for the AR15 seem to use a 3# spring to reduce the trigger pull. While most of the trigger setups specifically for the .308 use a 4# spring.

While I can't speak for the Armalite/AR-10 version, I can say the DPMS LR-308 pattern/version will take both the Timney and curved CMC drop-in tigger modules,
both work well and are single stage units with 3.5-4.5 lbs. trigger pulls and are recommended for easy uprades to your rifles for top accuracy. The CMC version w/
the straight/flat trigger may need trimming on the trigger tail for proper clearance...

This AR-15 has the Timney trigger in it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BlwAxAZNFgw&feature=plcp

Good Luck.

I just dropped in a Wilson Combat TR-TTU-M2 replacing a RRA 2 stage that was feeling a bit off. Will shoot this weekend and report back. Rifle, DPMS 308. It took about 4 minutes to remove old one and 2 minutes to install new one.Edit to add: I'll be darned, the Wilson had instructions, I just noticed that.

Do the safety checks in the Wilson instructions. I tried the Wilson in my LR 308 but it wouldn't pass the safety check. When the rifle is on safe the trigger should NOT move. On my rifle it moved just enough to release the trigger. When I went from safe to fire it would lower the hammer with full force and would have fired if there had been a round in the chamber. I took it back to Rainier Arms and their gunsmith tried to get it to work but it was a no go, same results. So I went to a Timney 4lb trigger and it worked just fine. Hopefully the Wilson will work fine in your gun, it's a great trigger. If not the Timney will work just fine.
A 45 may not expand but it will never be smaller than .45!!

Like I said earlier, I know for a fact that the Timney & CMC trigger modules will work for all DPMS LR-308 lowers and DPMS 308 pattern lowers....
They are very easy to Install and will give a sweet light/crisp single stage trigger pull to help cut down your groups vs. the standard trigger group.

Did the safety checks when I installed it, GTG. Trigger works great, not doing what the RRA I had in it was. Not too light, not too heavy.
