I've been seriously considering a PWS MK114 for a while and trying to decide if a 7.62x39 is a worthy purchase. They are currently available in 5.56 and 7.62x39. I have been shooting 7.62x39 for several months now to the tune of several thousand rounds through my AK and thought adding a AR piston upper might be a nice addition to the arsenal. That and mounting a suppressor on an AK isn't exactly something I'm interested in. (AAC 762-SDN-6) On an AR, hmmmm that's an option worth exploring.

What say the hive mind? Just go with a 5.56 or get a 7.62x39 upper?

Primary concern currently is magazines.

The ASC 7.62x39 mags are excellent performers in my experience.  I have 15 of them and zero issues with any of them.

If you can find magazines that feed reliably then go for it.That is what has hed me back from getting an AR in 7.62X39 or 5.45 is the lack of magazines.

I have some AR 556s, but I like the 762x39 for the hogs!

2430 thru my 10.5" x39 upper and I love slinging 123gr pills downrange at 2100+ FPS. DO EEET. I believe the PWS in 7.5" variety will run 2000fps.

AIM will have magazines soon hopefully. If you find some CProduct magazines you might have to replace the springs with Wolff extra power 762x39 springs and load to 25rds for reliability.
We need pics when you get your upper

I had some issues withing the first 200 rounds but mine settled in, I worked my feed ramps a little but I think it was mostly just the mags loosening up, I started with 3 ASC mags from one vendor and had some rounds that wouldn't strip from the mag consistently, after a few trips to the range they got much better. I can say it was definitely the mags cause I later ordered 3 more ASC mags from another vendor and those ran better right out of the box than my first group of 3, now they're all 100%. I shoot more 7.62 than 5.56 due to cost.

I believe I'll have to give them a call next week and order myself a 7.62x39 Christmas present.

the asc mags are good to go, they also make a 10 round mag that cheaper then dirt sells
