To our Valued Customer:

Announcement regarding Mega Arms Monolithic MTS upper receivers:

We have both good news and also tough news to deliver. So to quickly get the bad news out of the way: we are no longer manufacturing, or offering for sale, our MTS Monolithic upper receivers. This includes sets involving the MTS upper in AR-15 and MATEN. If you are a custom MTS client, please contact us.

You must be wondering why we are taking this step. No, we did not have any safety or quality issues. You already know that our MTS upper is made to our high expectations and has been the pinnacle of the industry since its inception. We recently became aware that a competitor is about to obtain a patent, and we believe that this competitor will assert its patent against us. We have strong defenses, but we are not a large company that can sustain ongoing litigation expenses. Plus we would rather be working on providing a superior replacement.

The good news is that we are working on a new platform that far exceeds anything currently offered in the industry. It will be exactly what you would expect from Mega Arms. We have no specific time frame on when we will be able to start shipping the new platform, but stay tuned for news on that front.

The MTS upper for AR-15 and MATEN has been a huge success for us at Mega Arms, and we are just as disappointed as you are with this decision and change. We convey our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause to you or your customers. We at Mega Arms look forward to our new platform, and believe that it will be a platform that the industry would expect to see from us at Mega Arms!

Sincerely,

Mega Arms

Somebody probably sent them a cease and desist order, even though there is no patent infringement.

I wonder if whoever did this will also file one with Colt, FN, and other companies, because HK can make the monolithic claim with the MP5SD if they push it.

Colt's and FN's attorneys will be able to pay waaaaay more judicial bribe money than whoever initiated this legal action.

LMT was issued a patent for the monolithic upper... it is unclear if Mega made the decision to discontinue their monolithic line based on a C&D from LMT or just LMT not being responsive to licensing inquiries, and not wanting to expend limited resources on a legal fight.

Well, after about five and a half months, I can say my MA-TEN is done! here's a pic:

Specs are:

Mega MA-TEN set from Riflegear
Rainier Arms 20" UltraMatch barrel
Lower parts from Fulton Armory
A1 stock kit from Fulton Armory
Chromed bolts carrier/phosphate bolt from Fulton Armory
Yankee Hill low profile gas block and rifle length gas tube from Primary Arms
Gunfughter Mod 3 charging handle from Primary Arms
10 round magazine from ASC
SJC Titan muzzlebrake

Not counting the cheap one piece mount and Simmons scope I got off of ebay and the cost to have the brake attached I have a touch over $2000 invested. Empty it weighs 10.8 pounds, with a loaded 10 round mag 0f 180 grain Remington shells it weighs 11.4 pounds and with a 4 round mag of the same shells it weighs 11.2 pounds. Sounds heavy, but compared to the RRA LAR-8 varmint with the 24" stainlees bull barrel I had, this thing is light!! LOL!!

Here is my MEGA SBR build.
One of the last Monolithic sets.
This is a 12" barrel and velocities are between 2440 and 2460fps firing a 147 grain bullet. I have not grouped it at 100 yards yet, but at 50 yards I put 4 shots in a 1" white paster, using a bipod. The barrel is a Rainer 20" cut down and I am using an adjustable gas block.

This rocks!
All the negatives I have seen about flame thrower and huge blasts were ALL over-stated. Using Military 147 grain I am seeing zero muzzle flash, even in the evenings! Seems muzzle flash is more powder related than length of barrel.

Just thought I would share!

Specs:
Mega Monolithic Set
Custom SS Rainer 12" Barrel
Syrac Adjustable Gas Block
Noveske FirePig
Custom SS/Tungsten Buffer Weight
DPMS BCG
Mega Trigger
KNS Pins

Larue Clips/Hand Stops
Custom Knights Vertical Grip
Hogue Grip
Magpul CTR Stock
Magpul Back-up Sights
Colt Custom Ambi Safety
Vltor Sling Mount
Plenty of Magpul PMags!!!

Changed out the A2 stock to the collapsible. I think I like it more.

Just finished changing to the black.
I really like the UBR but it is heavy. The weight of the UBR actually helps balance this rifle well.

I also added a 5.6oz stainless buffer ––even more weight.

thanks. do you know if the Troy MRF 308 rail would work on the maten with the rainier 18" select barrel and low pro gas block? i have not seen anyone that has used it and they are the only ones that make a 13" long rail that i like. i dont care for the DD lite rail. just dont like that knuckle at the connection to the receiver. the Troy looks spot on since they dont offer a 13" in the rainier one anymore. any input? thanks.
