Here's mine bolted together in another great picture with horrible lighting and busy background...

Now, all I've got to do is find some permanent optics. Best thing about the build, I had close to $500 in parts, so I only had to chase down roughly $1700 for the build, good times!

The levers that hold this mount to the picatinny rail section of the receiver. You can rotate them to tighten forward or rearward.

I want to replace my take down and pivot pin in my mega mkm receiver set with v7 light wight pins. Because my standard pins are really loose and I hope these will fix it. How do I replace them

[#11]
What do you mean by loose? Its normal for them to have a bit of wiggle to them, they are not supposed to be tight. If they fit too snug, it will take a hammer and nylon punch everytime you want to separate your upper and lower.

If you still suspect there is an issue, your best bet is to let MEGA look at it and fix it for you.

There's a tension adjustment screw in them, too. It's snugs them up really nice.

I have used that. It just seems that the pivot pin is too small and the receivers wiggle a little.

those of you looking for a barrel, would do well to look at rainier arms' website today, 8/23.  one day sale.  use the drop-downs on the left to select "on sale" as the category.  peruse the first few pages of sale items and you'll see what I mean.

Any rail designed for the DPMS "high" receiver pattern will work with the MEGA receivers. The JP handguard is my personal favorite so far.

The one that shoots the best.

If you're going into this thinking there's one single bullet that's magical with a given twist rate and everything else is crap, you're doing it wrong.

That's why it's called load development....you develop the load that shoots best from your specific gun. If lots of different loads shoot well, pick one and go with it.

I understand, but are there some weights that I can skip over that just don't work well with this type of barrel
Link Posted: 8/31/2014 11:06:41 PM EDT
[#26]
Anything heavier than 226 grains just isn't going to cut the mustard.

There, is that what you were looking for? A random number pulled out of one's ass? Because that's seriously all you will get. Other than heavy projectiles normally used in subsonics or magnums, it'll shoot damn near any bullet weight fine.

Kids these days....

with that twist rate id stick to the 168gr range but try multiple weights and see what shoots best

What height are you rings from the piccatinny rail (riser included)? When you are looking through the scope in the prone position do you get any shadowing?

175s and 180s shot fine from my 5r. 11 twist. By your rationale I'm a big fat liar.

Parroting what you read as opposed to having real experience is a bad choice.

YHM QD brake, not threaded on all the way.

Need to chase the threads on the brake; my .308 bolt from whence it came didn't have threads cut as long on the barrel as they are inside the brake, so the last 3/8" or so are chock full of carbon and all kinds of crap from a couple hundred rounds, at least half of 'em suppressed.  But I got it mocked up for the photo just to see what it'll look like.

I was hoping to do a CTR but it was still a bit front-heavy even without the can, so I tossed an Ergo F93 on there for mock-up as well, and it really balances out nicely.

Should be a fun lil plinker when it's all done, but like I said, it's still a back-burner project; the only reason it even has a barrel so soon is those jerkfaces at Rainier had a one-day sale and the Match was $239.....I'm a sucker for a helluva deal.

ETA:  stuff it still needs--slr gas block, bcg, fcg, cerakote (set up to do myself), mount/optics (vortex pst 2.5-10; their .mil discount is spectacular).  as of right now, i'm giving it at least 6 months, maybe more.

Not sure if I did the right thing. I traded my MaTen build with ammo for a 1975 Firebird Formula 400. All original, unmolested, just needs to be put back together.

I miss it already. But this car will be worth 3x as much in its current condition once it's running and driving again.

So, once I get it on the road, play with it a bit, I'll sell it and build more guns I suppose.

What do you guys think? I'll post pictures up once my replacement phone comes in.

I'll post mine here in a sec just need a pretty picture...
Build is as follows:
MKM Maten Set
Shilen super match 16"
JDW Mfg Shark Suppressor
Geissele SSA-E
Harris bipod
DPMS and an Armalite BCG
PRS and MOE+ in Wolf Grey
TAB Gear Kryptek suppressor sock
Vortex Viper PST 4-16x
Aimpoint T1 Micro not yet mounted....
CTS Engineering AKTIVE buffer
Tubb CS flatware spring

Started with carbine length receiver extension, UBR a, spring and buffer......PROBLEMS galore related to headspace. Very very tight chamber resulted in overgassed over pressured and too fast a bolt timing. Tons of FTE, stuck cartidges, etc. probably 275 rounds through her and nothing but problems.

Switched to a rifle length extension, the PRS, and Tubb CS spring rifle length. Trying an Armalite BCG and no adjustable gas block.

I shoot suppressed only. Pray for me!
