anyone know where to get a 308 size (5/8") peel washer?  Not a crush washer...

I've never seem a .308 size peel washer, but I know you can thin a crush washer. I've stoned crush washers to make them thinner. I just used a flat oil stone and ground the washer down until it was 15-20 degrees from clocking and snugged up my brake from there.

You might check Brownell's, if not, then McMaster-Carr (www.mcmaster.com) has them.

Edit:They're actually called "laminated washers" in hardware terminology. McMaster-Carr has them, but only in aluminum and brass. Look here: http://www.mcmaster.com/#washers/=636jav

I've never seen them either. You might be able to take a 5.56 washer, use a tapered hand ream and just open it up? I don't know if its OD would fit your needs though.

thanks guys.

I prefer peel washers since they dont' require so much torque.  Better for taking off & putting back on stuff, like if you are switching between a can & a brake etc.
