I am trying to find a muzzle brake for my 6.5 Grendel with no luck.  The threads are hard to match.  The barrel is threaded 9/16"-24.  Any ideas?

Sabre Defence - scroll down...it's the Tactical Gill-Brake (3rd item from the top).

Yep, all of those offer some with the 9/16"x24 thread.

Here's a Smith Vortex with those thread count

Thanks everyone.  My buddy found a guy that can "open" up a standard flash hider to the new diameter and changed the threads.  Its more economical this way.

This is actually one of the reasons the 9/16s size was chosen.

It seem really dumb that AA would choose 9/16x24 for their thread pitch when nearly every .308 and 6.8 muzzle device is already threaded 5/8x24. I'm actually strongly considering cutting and rethreading my AA barrel to rectify this tardery.

It allows you to use standard-sized 5.56 devices, which are less "clunky" than using .308 devices. Sure, that's purely aesthetic, but there it is. Of more importance, is that using 5.56-sized devices allows COTS applications with blank-firing adaptors, etc.

All things considered, 9/16-24 was the wisest choice.

My buddy says this place will do the opening and rethreading for $10.  Thats not too bad.  All the brakes made in that factory thread are around $90 or more.  I wanted to use a highly regarded $30 brake.  All in all the brake will cost me $40+ ship both ways.

Ah, AA used the off the shelf FAL thread pattern.

5/8x24 is the threading for the Armalite AR-10 5/8x24, also off the shelf.

Regardless, both are common to get.

Except that all my FAL's are LH threads.

I really wanted a PWS FSC30, but just ordered a Vortex from Brownells instead. So, thoughts of chopping the barrel are currently on hold.

This really annoys me about the grendel.  If I want to put a supressor on it I have to cut the barrel and have it rethreaded.

Why?

YHM, AAC, and Gemtech all make muzzle attachments that accept suppressors in 9/16 x24 RH.

I just cut mine down for new threads. I was easier to fine used muzzle devices on the EE with that thread pitch.t
