Dustin,

Just received my care packages from Mark today...  WOW!  Thanks so much.  Love the cap, the decals will be put to good use and am saving the coupon for my next credit card vandalism!

Thanks again DPMS!

What is the issue with installing rifle length rail on the AP4?   I just got one this week and the rifle rail is the way I want to go.  I would rather not send it to the factory for the install.  Or are there other rifle length rail systems out there that install without problems?

Joey,

How long before you heard anything, or received your package?
I've emailed twice, with no email response, hell, i was even on a road trip for work, and was going to drop by the factory to check things out and see what the place looked like, but the guy on the phone said they were all packed up for a show they were going to.  Maybe i'll swing by on my next roadtrip.

I might try that. Acetone didn't harm the finish?

I am confused about how you got the dust cover on that. I have been on Panthers website looking at their guns all day and they all say no dust cover. (I assume that is DPMS .308 but I don't know exactly). headbang.gif

Edit: I mean the ejection cover and the forward assist.

It started life as an AP4.
http://www.dpmsinc.com/firearms/308/ap4.aspx

The upper is the A3 style with the cover and forward assist.

On most of the .308s (and probably a bunch of the others) you can get that type of upper as an option (or on the base rifle as in the AP4, SASS).

Would someone please post a close-up pic of the inside of the DPMS .308  lower, looking straight down? I'm intersted in the coonfiguration of the firecontrol parts and the rear retaining pin.
thanks for the help.

She is so sweet!!! After a few months waiting, here's my baby, a custom 308 18" built by Marty on DPMS 308 upper receiver. PacNor stainless steel match barrel, JP handguard, JP adjustable gas block (milled to free float the barrel inside the handguard), Miculek muzzle brake, Leupold 4.5-16 Mark 4 / PRS scope, and Dr. Optic for CQB.

I still need to switch out the M4 buttstock with a VLTOR clubfoot stock. I might also go for a Larue IronDot mount with Burris FastFire red dot instead of the Dr. Optic (I can see me losing the cover cap, and having to mess with the CS2032 battery which requires unmounting the whole sight to replace).

The following set of photos are from my 24" factory DPMS with PRS stock, Super Sniper 20x scope, and Vais muzzle brake added.

Nightforce 12-42X56 scope and Harris bipod.

Since this pic was taken I have added a Magpul stock and a Magpul grip is next.  I took apart the trigger and polished it up but it really needs a good two-stage.

Best groups so far shot off the bipod:
