Just added the Magpul a few weeks ago. Its really nice but since my Badger rings were low enough for the A2 stock, Its perfect and I dont need to adjust the cheekpiece. It does feel good though.

What brand/model suppressor are you using?  I've been looking at a Gemtech HVT .308 for my DPMS AP4 .308 but I've been told by a few people that I would need to install an adjustable gas block to make it function with the suppressor.  Do you have ny problems?

This is the Gemtech HVT. Its great and no I dont have an problems at all with it. Stock gas block. It makes my brass a bit more dirty than without it but its no big deal. It completely kills the muzzle blast. If you have a barrel 20 inches or less you can use sub-sonics which have less noise than a .22. The bolt and the brass hitting is the loudest thing. Depending on were you shoot, the volume varies with supersonic stuff. Wide open spaces seem to be best. Confined areas tend to bounce the sonic crack back at you but it NEVER hears your ears. No more muffs or plugs!

After rereading your question..If you have the AP4 with a shorter barrel, your bolt MIGHT slam a little hard from the greater back pressure. An adjustable gas block would let you tone down the bolt speed. I'd try it without first. If you feel theres too much stress on the carrier, a new gas block is SO easy and not much money. Or you could get a stronger recoil buffer spring system.

I am going to go back to my FFL and have him change my order. He gave me this BS story that doing this creates problems and that it is not recommended by DPMS. I hope he doesn’t give me any problems considering that this is what I wanted to get in the first place. By the way it does look nice.

308panther

Jewell Trigger

JP barrel, Comp and handgaurd

Magpul PRS stock

Trijicon Acu-point scope

polished bolt carrier and hammer

shoots about a 1/4" to 3/8" on a good day at 100yards.

the best part about all the mods is the weight reduction. This is a heavy gun stock.

Thanks for the compliment I bought my fore rail from you guys and it is by far the best one I own and the gun by far the most reliable even that crappy cheap indian surplus ammo would allways misfire in other guns except this gun  ... Lucky

Here's my KISS 20" that I'm giving to my Uncle this summer... no need to worry, I'm getting a 1969 Corvette in return - in April - ;) I'll have another AR soon to replace it - more than likely another DPMS.

I've been very happy with this gun. Aside from the crummy carry-handle I had to buy, it's a rugged solid shooter that I alone have put about 2500 rounds through in the 3 trips I've taken tot he range. Enjoy!

So far so good.   LR308 AP4 with Leupold VX2 4-12x40mm, trigger job, Magpul PRS, and a few other small goodies from dsgarms.

The Larue mount should be here 3/7

Mine just showed up today, so i don't have any cool pics yet, but here she is,

24" fluted barrel threaded with Miculek comp, RRA  trigger, tactical grip all DPMS installed, and i threw on my Millet TRS-1 in a one piece mount.  Can't wait to break it in, and start plinking.

EDIT: Just noticed the nosey dog showed up in the pic, he digs the new stick.

Hell, here is a pic of my nosey little gun buddies, they help with the maintenance, as they lay on the futon and observe my  cleaning when i get home from the range.

Hey all...would anybody happen to have a pic of a DPMS 308, perhaps even with the 24" barrel, with the DPMS M60-type flash hider attached?  I think I like the look of it more than the Panther flash hider, but I'd love to see it installed before I make my final decision.

Thanks,

Gerry

I sent an email with a link to the page where I had posted my pics and my screen name.  He responded with an email.  I received a tan DPMS Panther Arms embroidered hat with Tan flag onthe side.  Pretty sharp looking and I am pretty particular about the hats I wear.
