I have the opportunity to buy a complete upper from the local surplus store. I inspected the assembly and found it to be in great condition. How ever I have never seen an AR barrel marked on the side with CAI. On top the barrel is marked camp 5.56 nato 1:7. Did cai offer imported barrels. Any help would be great

Is the CAI an import mark? they handle a lot of surplus, I wonder if they brought in some surplus mil ~~barrels~~ guns and swapped receivers?

At one time they were building complete ARs.

The recent barrels they sell under they're name are bear creek arsenal.

It appears to be an import mark. Also looks to be an early barrel. The rifling is in great condition.

I remember them selling ARs as far back as '97. I can't remember when they stopped, like ten years ago maybe. They looked like mil surp parts kit builds. Back then you could still find mil surp m16 complete uppers cheap, I think they were being reimported from South America or something. I don't know if their semi autos were assembled in the US or not. I remember at some time, before the "barrel ban", there were A2 uppers being imported.
