Snagged my M&P Shield w/ 3 Blem PSA lowers awhile back. Have just started piecing together one of the lowers and was informed by my friend that the extra hole near the pistol grip area is for a tension screw to take the play out from between the upper and lower? Didn't know this was even a thing as I've only built on an Anderson lower before..

Where can I find such a screw? Didn't come with the lowers or Palmetto LPK..

Get one of those set screws with the nylon tips from the hardware store.

Specific size or thread pitch? Never seen one of those at the hardware store... would rather just order a couple online to make sure I got the right one.

Mega and Aero lowers also come with that feature, but I don't see the part listed at their web site. You might email them for a part number etc.

I would definitely call and ask the manufacturer what screw you need to get. That is not a standardized feature on an AR/M16 receiver and therefore could vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, unless everyone just copied the first place to do it. For what it's worth though, I can tell you that New Frontier ships 1/2" long 1/4x28 nylon tipped screws with theirs.

Those are "dog point set screws."

My local True Value carries those in their bolt and screw bin area.

I to got a PSA with the tensioning hole in it, had an extra Mega tension screw in my parts box and it fit perfectly.  Aero had them got them back in stock a few weeks back when I was browsing their site.

To all the people who are saying I can get them locally, do you guys know the size/threading I need? I think 1/4" - 28 is correct... How long is the screw or does it even matter? This one is 1/4" I believe:

Aero has them for $1.99 ea, but $7.80 shipping seems steep if it's probably just going into a tiny padded envelope:

Where exactly is that hole? This looks like one of those mods that even I couldn't jack up.

Its the PG screw hole.  Goes through to right under the trigger.

ETA: Oops I was thinking of the poor man's trigger job.

On the psa I have, their is an adjacent hole next to the pistol grip screw hole and it doesn't go under the trigger at all but under the rear take down cross pin.
