What is the lightest reasonably priced MLOK rail these days?
12-15" Light and strong, not flimsy . |

I have a guntec honeycomb M-lok rail on my 5.56 and an Odin O2 Light M-lok on my 458 socom. Both are extremely light. The guntec was obviously much cheaper. Not sure on the exact weights but figured those two might get you started.

Depends on how "reasonably" priced you want it. ALG rails are LW (especially the V1 and V2) and are very reasonably priced, sturdy as well.

I think that Fortis has a great thing in the Rev II. But I recently held a rail system from ATX Armory, and that thing is fucking lighter than anything I've held.

thanks for the replies, so far....

To my knowledge the SLR helix ultralight. I have one on my lightweight build and it is a 13.7" weighed in at 8.2 oz with the barrel nut and hardware. It's not cheap, think I payed 215, but the quality was second to none.

The ALG rails seem to be very strong for their weight and have a beefy (long) barrel nut with meticulously threaded holes and high quality hardware. The design has less opportunity for deflection than most clamping style bbl nut attachment methods |

View Quote They have a bad barrel nut design. They have no channel that a bolt goes thru that prevents the rail from sliding off. They rely entirely on clamping force to stay on the barrel nut. That is just flawed... Still have my SSG12 because it's comfy and light but I've had MI rails literally fall off the gun before. And had them slide forward 1/8-1/4" after a day of shooting several times. Holding the rail on with loctite, per the instructions, is an easily corrected flaw. The adm rails (sister company) show how that should be addressed. |

I haven't had a problem with either the couple MI gen 2 or gen 3 rails I've used -- actually my favorite for being lightweight, high quality, and price point.

Definitely should be in consideration. The 12" is 7.95 oz with mounting hardware. I really like mine. View Quote . |

I really love my SLR. It's not as beefy as my G-rail, but it's my favorite when it comes to ergonomics.

If V7 made their lithium aluminum rails with BCM type Ti barrel nuts and Ti hardware....

guntec usa ultra lightweight 12" are 9.5 oz with barrel nut and 6 screws which attach guards to nut. This would be a budget solution, feels good and solid, but is very narrow, it does fit over my superlative arms .675 gas block though.

Noveske NSR in MLOK will be pretty light.
Hodge/Mega wedgelock is also pretty light. |

I'm trying to decide what rail to use next as well for a somewhat light build. I was looking at ALG as I have one already on another build. I'm also looking at the newer M.I. Rails because if I remember right it was lighter.

Look at the Guntec ultra slim octagonal. I got one, the 10" is actually 7.2 oz including the nut (website says 6.1), but that is 4 oz lighter than an ALG EMR.

I just bought another, direct from ALG Defense:
Ergonomic Modular Rail (EMR) V3 M-LOK Color Black Size 12" $90.00 I consider that to be a simply outstanding value in a slim M-Lok, with a rock-solid attachment method. $90! (I already have the proprietary wrench, so that did not have to be factored.) |
