Quick update Mark,
Ok, look....all I can say is my equipment is not holding me back.
I can say without a doubt that my LaRue barrel shoots as good as it looks.
First of all, every shooter has good excuses, so here are mine:
1.) I'm not a great shooter in the first place. Decent, but don't practice enough.
2.) It was hot and muggy as hell today. In between shots I had to wipe the fog and sweat from my glasses. I'm blind as a bat anyway. With the constant fogging it was like looking through the shallow end of a swimming pool.
3.) I wanted to, and tried to do the MOA All Day Challenge. After I broke the second shot I knew it was not going to happen. I am man enough to admit that at this point in time I, and I am stressing I, AM NOT capable of completing the MOA challenge. I failed miserably.
But.....for the good stuff.
The LaRue Stealth barrel is outstanding. When using a rest on the bench great accuracy was easily accomplished. I fully intend to get some more "seat time" with the barrel and rifle in general. Then I will give the Challenge another go.
But overall I was thoroughly impressed. The barrel was shooting better and better as it coppered in, meanwhile I was shooting worse and worse due to the sun kicking my sweaty ass.
I did manage several .720" 5 shot groups. So I know I am the problem. I am holding the rifle back at this point.
I fully expect to improve those numbers quite a bit with some handload tuning, and more practice on my part.
The Stealth seemed to really like 69gr FGMM.
I will try to get some real testing done, and get the All Day Challenge done in the near future.
