Anyone here have a problem with AIM NiB carrier group rusting under gas key and around screws?

Nope but, a picture would be nice.
Also worth mentioning that, if it is in fact defective, AIM will be the first to take care of your issue. I wish their in stock bcg's were as good as their customer service.

I know that lesser quality barrels aren't finished under the gas block, but have always wondered about nickel boron bcg's. I have one from WMD, which is specifically desribed as having everything coated before assembly and the use of a specific permatex sealant under the gas key, but most other descriptions don't go beyond the base materials.

Edit: Just saw the pics. They should replace that for you. That definitely looks like corrosion and will eventually leak and fail.

That looks terrible.  How old is the BCG and did you buy it from AIM or another vendor?  The staking looks bad on the ejection side but good on the other side.

Cleaned up nice. What do you use? Also, was the key originally permatexed?

I did not see the permatex, but I ran a bunch of rounds through it after the key started coming loose. I may have blown it all off.

I was running it with my binary trigger. When my 10.5" upper quit running right I swapped to my 14.5 upper and used the same LW bcg. I did a 100rd surefire dump and a couple more mags before it quit working again and I then found the loose gas key.

I cleaned it with several days in a tumbler. Then I washed it with dishwashing detergent followed by brake cleaner after it dried.

Staking was deep enough I had to drive the front screw out with a punch and drive the new screw in with a few taps from my little ball peen hammer. It appeared to be hitting the top of the bolts, but not down lower where the grooves are cut.

UPDATE

Talk about fast and great customer service.

I e-mailed customer service at AIM last night after hours.

Heard from Joshua before lunch today saying send BCG back to them.

I had also messaged Bryan this A.M. before store hours.

Heard from Bryan at 12:05 P.M.

This is great customer service!!!

I will do more business with these guys .

AIM has always had some of the best customer service for as long as I can remember.  That is why I used to spend most of my money on milsurp guns from them 10-15 years ago or so.  It's a shame that milsurp guns have mostly dried up and the good old days of buying most of them for less then $100 is gone.  But AIM still remains one of the best companies out there and I will choose them every time as long as they have what I need in stock.  They take the time to read your e-mails and work with you!  There are a lot of good companies out there today, but the really good ones always stand out in the gun communities.

I don't think anyone cleans under the gas key unless something happens.  His gas key came loose.  He cleaned the entire BCG, applied new gasket material, torqued bolts and then staked them.

Lol, not unless the key comes loose.  The key came loose after roughly 500 rounds of simulated full auto.

They didn't offer to with mine. They did offer to repair/replace it, but I didn't want to wait for it, so I repaired it myself.

Whenever I have a fault with a supplier I insist on a prepaid shipping label up front. I've never been denied and usually don't even have to ask, they offer. The old adage applies here: You'll never know if you don't ask.
AIM will make take care of you. Good company.

I was worried about what might be under the gas key.

Anyway, I received a replacement today, and am a happy customer.

AIM is a great customer oriented company.
