Gem-Tech G5 on top of a bi-lock mount:

M68 CCO in place by Ry Jones, on Flickr

I've had it since 2008, and it's been discontinued. I did not appreciate the amount of lock-in a quick attach system would engender; the advantage of not needing to remove a muzzle device for a direct thread can is overshadowed by the cost of the mounts. A handful of mounts and you could have bought another can. In general I've been happy with the performance. Speaking of bi-lock mounts:

Jacket required by Ry Jones, on Flickr

The bi-lock mount has been supplanted by the quickmount. As a flash hider, it works about as well at night as an A1 or A2 to my mark I uncalibrated eyeball. The primary use, though, is for putting a can on. The fit is quite tight, so you need to keep it clean for easy mounting and unmounting. It's easy to fall behind on hitting it with a brass brush, making it progressively harder to remove.

Just so you know I'm not a total savage, here is a clean bi-lock (the same one as above, actually)

Business end: Maximum bokeh by Ry Jones, on Flickr

If you pay close attention in video games, you might see a previous iteration of the rifle at the top. The most obvious change is the scope mount.

Here's some pics of my AAC Blastout. 2015/6 is really the dawn of mainstream concussion mitigation devices. It seems as though everyone is making them now. I use the AAC and a Surefire Warden. I like the design of the AAC a little better. The end is completely open, unlike the Surefire which has a hole on the end that lines up with the muzzle device. I haven't done extensive testing but I noticed a slight poi shift with the warden that wasn't present with the AAC.

Specwar Brake. ASR mount for my specwar K. Excellent brake, that has drastically improved my ability to keep the rifle flat when shooting quickly.

Gladly add it here if that works, with a another shot:

As a brake, without the shield, it works well, and the way you expect from a traditional brake vs a hybrid. It is loud, there is a lot of flash, but it mitigates the muzzle rise nicely.  The shield works as intended, and pushes a lot of the blast forward, with a nice fireball ;-)

The shield is pretty hefty, so amplifies the sensation of keeping the muzzle very flat, although I don't think I'd want to hang it on the end of a 16" barrel.

Nothing fancy here, I'm not sure if they still make this Phoenix FS made by Saylors Machine and most probably I bought it from Rainier Arms way back in late 2005.

It is similar to the Smith Enterprise Vortex with slanted slots that aligns with the barrel's bore grooves, except the Phoenix have a closed end, I don't prefer open ended slots because usually they make a tuning fork noise, are more likely to snagging and weaker more prone to damage than closed end FS.

It's mounted on my 16" Rock Creek Barrels, mil-spec CMV steel, midlength gas system, medium contour, chrome lined, 5.56 chambered, with M4 feedramps, when I shoot it in early evenings I don't notice much visible muzzle flash, it have a lot less flash than my other A2 FS on 16" carbines with carbine gas system.

Do you work for AAC? If not, where did you get it and what's the street price?  I've yet to see those for sale anywhere.

I do not. Sometimes I test and review products for companies. I got it last summer and it was supposed too be out then. They say it's still coming but haven't given me a date yet. That's the same thing they've been saying right along though. I should prob let it go as I need to replace my muzzle devices for upcoming suppressor reviews.

His pics are better than mine.
I've tried numerous muzzle devices over the years and IMHO the AFAB is probably the best hybrid currently available. 55% reduction in recoil (which reduces muzzle rise) w/little more flash or concussion than an A2.
Recently had a friend compare my middy w/AFAB to his very similar middy w/A2 and he was surprised at the significant improvement in handling and recovery.
AFAB's now grace all my AR's including my son's & wife's.

Smith Vortex and AAC (non supressor)

This is the Surefire Warden. It uses Surefire's same quick attach as their line of SOCOM supressors. It locks up solid and there is no wobble at all. I have noticed a slight POI shift when using this particular blast diverter. I beleive its due to the small amount of "bore" the Warden  has on it and lining it up with the muzzle device.

The AAC BLASTOUT is my favorite blast diverter/concussion mitigation device on the market. It attaches in the same fashion as their line of suppresssors. There is no discernible wobble or rotational play in the BLASTOUT at all. Unlike the Surefire there was no POI shift at all. It was very effective at directing the concussion from a muzzle brake, forward and away from the shooter. It also works great in the prone/urban prone position. It helps prevent a huge dust cloud from being kicked up and making it impossible to continue enagaging the target.

B. E. Meyers M4QDSS compatible flash suppressor prototype:

Possibly the worst combination of two awesome parts ever.

In order to mount the suppressor, an extra adapter ring had to be used which had to be fit into the correct slots, facing the right direction to index the suppressor possibly.  Once in place, the adapter threatened to deform the locking ring of the suppressor.  To add insult to injury... it required the suppressor to be mounted upside down.

B. E. Meyers briefly listed them for $450.

It is unsurprising that they never went into production.

The next attempt to create a suppressor-compatible B. E. Meyers led to the FH556-215A, which then evolved into the FH556-RC, and subsequently to the SF3P for the commercial market.

Very nice Augee.  Always good to see your posts.  Substantial amount of worthwhile information there

Clearly employing multiples of the YHM 4302 muzzle brakes, since I have the 30 caliber silencer for them, the only other variant to them is occasionally using the FH or the PWS FSC556 brake that accepts YHM silencers.

This one will be getting a Compass Lake 18" barrel.

Some of these are pinned and welded on 14.5" barrels.  Others are 16s.

The PWS variant that I always keep my eyes peeled for.  Very rare.

Pinned and welded FH on a 14.5" Spike's middy as to try to maintain the lightest muzzle device I could use on that gun since it was a purpose build LW rifle.

These brakes do a remarkable job of mitigating recoil even on the 14.5 carbines and are quite cost effective in letting me and others outfit their guns since they have a $900 muzzle device to attach.

One of the best things about the YHM mounting system is that it has remained consistent for several years now.  They're much easier to get also.

I won't say they're the prettiest looking but they've made improvements over the last few years in cleaning up their form.

BE Meyers 249f, awesome flash suppression but a bit heavy.

VG6 Gamma, 1 on an AK-74 and another with their CAGE. VERY flat shooting, doesn't push muzzle down in my experience. Haven't shot with the CAGE yet.

VG6 Epsilon with CAGE, Just finished this build and haven't shot it, but the Epsilon is supposed to be like the Gamma but with some flash suppression.

I became a fan of linear comps a couple years back when I tried a Kaw Valley for hunting.  It made it much nicer on the ears when not wearing earpro.

I recently switched to the Griffin M4SD Linear Comp and it's well worth the extra money over the KVP.  I was skeptical that it would be louder with the three ports on top and that they wouldn't do much.  I was way wrong, the Griffin is a lower tone and definitely does not hurt my ears (no sharp pain or ringing) when shooting without earpro.  Tthe three ports actually do give a little muzzle compensation.  Enough that closely grouped double taps are easy.  I shot it a couple times the other night and there is a noticeable flash with it.  With the KVP I felt like I had way more muzzle movement

Sorry for my crappy cellphone pics.

Here's the only pic I have with the KVP

Stick can you do a lil write up on the Shadow Valley Comp?  I'm seriously debating getting one but would like to hear a lil more about it?

Griffin Armament has a wide variety of muzzle devices. Both mount and non mount.
I'm hoping to see installs and reviews here.
Thanks for starting the thread and to all the contributions.
