Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - SIG P556 in 7.5?

Hi everyone,
I have a Sig P556 that I registered as an SBR. This comes with a 10" barrel but I was wondering if they make a 7.5" length for this model. Anyone know?
My only regret/mistake with this model is that it's not a standard AR platform and I can't just drop any upper on it.

No. 10" is about as short as you can go on that gun style. The 552 Commando is 8.9", but it has a different piston setup and length. To go to 7.5" would require replacing the barrel, gastube, piston rod, and spring.

I'll add, that on the classic SIG rifles (55X) the upper is the gun, not a replaceable upper like an AR.

Thanks for the feedback. I think I'll need to mod my .300BLK for 5.56 and a 7.5. It's just easier all-around to play with an AR spec model.
Now to submit a variance with the ATF!
