I have a 7.62x39 10" barreled pistol. It is a Sig 556xi Russian. Occasionally I will get some short strokes and I can't narrow down what may be causing it. By occasionally, I mean one or two times in 300 rounds or so. I know adding something like a KX5 might help but I don't want to add something that big and heavy. Currently I have what came from the factory on it which is a 3 prong flash hider.
I was thinking about getting a Lantec Dragon muzzle brake just to help with the muzzle rise. I know it isn't going to help with the occasionally short stroke but I don't want it to increase the frequency of the problems? In other words I'm not sure what brakes do with back pressure; do they stay the same, reduce, increase, etc.
I'm sure most have more knowledge on the ar15 side and this is just a general brake question so not really pertinent to just ARs or AK type weapons.
For example:
1. A KX5 pig, barking spider, PWS CQB, will increase back pressure
2. A suppressor will increase back pressure
3. A flash hider does what?
4. A muzzle brake does what?
Any help would be appreciated.
