Starting an SPR build with an 18" rainier match grade .223 Wylde barrel.
This one.

What is the exact length handguard I need to completed cover a BCM low profile gas block?

(If there is a better gas block to use, please, let me know)

I know a lot of SPR builds have an exposed gas block and that's cool, I just prefer a coveted gas block.

The larue 13.2 says it's designed to cover that, so is 13.2 the exact minimum to 100% cover the gas block?

I assume the 13" bravo rail will leave a bit of this exposed, am I correct? More than likely I am leaning towards a 15" but I am not sure yet if a 13 will fit my desires  that is an option

I'm doing the exact same thing you are and I'm looking at the same barrel also......Can't help you with the handguard length all mine are currently 20".......This will be my first 18"er......I am also looking at mating it to one of those Rainier uppers the forged mil-spec minus FA w/logo.

Well it's good to know that the answer to this question will benefit others as well. I guess as long as it covers the gas block on a 20 it will for the 18 too gas system should be the same?

if it has a rifle length gas system the gas block will be the same distance from the receiver whether the barrel is 18" or 20".

This looks like a 14 will work well

If you want the block fully covered, go with a 15" handguard. I have a Midwest Industries SS 12" (listed at 12.625") handguard on a rifle length gas system. The handguard ends about a 1/32" before the gas block starts. My intent was to cover 1/16" or so of the gas block. I fully speced the parts out as best I could. However, once installed, the handguard came up a bit short. The lesson here is don't cut it too close. Published specs aren't 100% accurate.

The longest gas block I have is 2 inches.  A 14" will work.

14" will do it, I went with a 15" SSM from Midwest on a similar build and am pleased with the result.

I'd do a 15" if I was choosing.

I have a 13.5 diamond head.  It  covers the gas block, on an 18 inch rifle gas barrel but the angle cut on the end only just barely covers the block.
On my 20 i went with a 15 inch parallax tactical rail.

To completely cover the rifle length gas block you will want the 15" handguard

The gas port on a rifle length system is 12 inches from the extension, given that and the length of a low pro gas block (we'll call it about an inch, give or take) I'm sure anything over 13" will suffice

Do you have any pics of that 18" rifle?  I'm planning an 18" rifle-length barrel on my next build, along with a DiamondHead rail, but haven't decided whether I want the 13.5" or 15" Diamondhead.

Thanks.

What is the difference between a, mid length gas system and rifle length gas system ?

15" Geissele SMR MKIII covers the gas block on a rifle length gas system, with about an inch to spare:

13" will be a little short.  Here is a 12" PRI next to a 13" TRX Extreme.  The actual measurement of the PRI is 12.75 and it buts up against the rear of a rifle length gas block.

A 15" rail on the other hand will completely cover it:

If you look closely you can see the low profile gas block at the rifle position.

If you look at my picture above you can see the mid length gas block underneath the 13" TRX extreme rail.
