I got a Rainier Arms Force Mod 2 Rail, which is lightweight but very open, in terms of material removed.

Does anyone have experience with a similar style aluminium rail in terms of heat? I'm guessing even after short strings the barrel heat will bleed completely through and things are going to get pretty hot. It will be on a mostly precision upper build but I'm wondering if there is anything that can be done to mitigate burning hands, like a small section of handguard wrapped in 550 cord or some sort of condura rail shroud. I don't plan to always use a VPG and I don't shoot from a magwell hold.

Any thoughts?
