Not saying the OP didn’t, but I have not seen any articles on this lower that were misleading.
If anything it seems they had to reinforce the design so it could hold up to normal use.
IMO as builders it is our responsibility to determine the suitability of the aftermarket parts we use.
That being said I appreciate the post describing what happened.
Sooner or later I will probably run across someone with one of these lowers.

So far OP has:

1. Blamed MT for not producing a lower that can withstand a KB that no other lower receiver can withstand.
2. Asked (and received) a refund for said lower, along with every other MT lower purchased
3. Seemed to have not been quite as critical of any other part of said rifle that failed to withstand said KB.
4. Asked for a refund of parts and/or rifle from manufacturers of parts AND ammo manufacturer of said rifle totalling a GREATER amount than original price of said rifle.

OP has played this unfortunate event like a professional con FSA soldier.

RESULT: OP has done well for himself......at the cost of everyone else

note: my attitude has not been at the top of the mountain the last few days about bitchy people that know and deserve everything and do nothing. Disregard any part of this that may not fall in line with the truth as OP sees it.

Am I the ONLY one concerned that this "Beat Down" on Mag Tactical was started by a Noob on his FIRST POST?

AND the only 12 posts he has made are in this thread.

Someone with an axe to grind???

This ATTACK on Mag Tactical has made me want one of their Lowers even more and I'm wanting one of their upcoming uppers.

I will sell you mine...

Any takers???

Looks like a classic gas key strike to the receiver extension ring.  A pic of the forward face of that is needed.  That will break ANY receiver short of steel.

As for the MT lowers being insufficiently strong, the pic of the destroyed Colt receiver above dispells the notion that 7075 is strong enough to survive all KB's.
I for one welcome the OP's departure from this site.  As PursuitSS said, there definitely seems to be an axe grinding taking place.

Unfortunately I no longer have the lower to check since I returned it to my LGS and replaced it with a forged DoubleStar lower. New lower has performed flawlessly through 300 rounds and all I did was swap parts from the MAG lower into it. That being the case if this was some sort of gas key strike, wouldn't it have happened again?
