Interesting.
TAG for more info. They look like they'd feel pretty good in the hands. |
Tagged as well.
I'm in the market for a light weight solution. It'll be interesting to see how this stacks up to some of the other options. ETA: Well, google-fu pulls up some more info. Still not finding weight specifics noted. There's some hi-res close-up's on Defense Review form SHOT 2012 Link to DefenseReview.com Diamondhead overview |
Saw this yesterday... sent an email out to diamondhead with no reply as of yet on price and weight specifics.

TAGGED! I like it also.
I would like to see a view of the underside. BTW: I consider the abundance of handguard choices available for the AR to cause the most anguish in building one.. |

Nothing about the weight on the website, but:

I am not worried so much about weight, if it's a bit heavier than expected, I'll get use to it. I love the idea of the anti rotation tabs on either side of the upper receiver better than the anti-rotation ring and set screw. |

I am thinking of throwing that one on my 16" 22lr, but the 22lr barrel is recessed so the actual length exposed is 14.5 thinking this could work to turn that into a dissy style. |

that is so damn badass! i'm even more convinced that diamondhead is the way to go. i really like this handguard but i'm actually stuck between this one and the VR-S "X" version. the main reason i am considering the X over the T is because the rail additions will probably look better on the sides than on the T, and also might be a bit lighter. so i am torn between the 2. Hopefully I can make a decision. only thing i got left to question is the gas block, cause i'm actually in the process of building my upper, my lower is complete so starting my upper, dont have the barrel or the gas block yet, so does this barrel come with a low profile gas block or do i need to order one elsewhere? if so, where can i order it?
You have to order your own. I got mine for $20 or so at surplusammo.
FYI. You will need to buy a crowsfoot wrench to get proper torque specs. It the only way I found. I still need to get one to make sure all is where it should be, before taking her out to the range. |
Atticaz thank you for those photos. That handguard is a winner!
Anytime. I love learning, trying new products and sharing/helping out.

How long is that barrel? Is that a 14.5"?!? I'm trying to decide on whether I get the 13.5 or the 10.25 for my 14.5" barrel..

Can you give me the measurements of length for both the top and bottom of that rail? Is the 10.25 The top or the bottom measurement?

Top: 10 1/4"
Bottom 11 5/8" Another FYI. Rail sections for this rail seem pretty much proprietary. The screw holes are 1 5/8" apart. A 7" rail for this thing is $22 or so. I found that the polymer L5 (11 slot) rail fits perfect. The Magpul L5 is 5" of rail and only $9.99. |
Okay, so its a lil longer than the advertised 10.25" listed? Sounds better every time you post something.... I'm gonna order next week after payday I think.
Update: I couldn't wait!!! I ordered it, the 10.25" I'll be sending them off to Cerakote (Burnt Bronze) as soon as they arrive
FYI.
Magpul L5 Rails fit on this Handguard. They are polymer and 2" less than the full length ones sold on the Diamondhead website, but half the price. ;) |

Man that looks awesome. I haven't even finished my latest AR and I'm already finding things I want on my next one in 300 blackout.
Update: I told you I couldn't resist!!! I already ordered 3 Magpul L5s:) I wish the rail would hurry up and get here, I need to send it, my Seekins lower and DPMS LoPro upper to cerakote!!!! Rifle is gonna be SICK!!!
definately post pics man, i have gotta see this shit. what color is your stock and handgrip?
i really wish someone would get a VR-S X and post pics of it on the site, but i guess thats not gonna happen anytime soon. I'm gonna be getting the VR-S T handguard myself unless i change my mind at the last second LOL

I don't know if your talking to me or not, but the upper, lower and rails are going to be burnt bronze, everything is will remain black. I don't now how its gonna look with those rails, but I've seen burnt bronze with other rifles and it looks sick!!!
definately post pics man, i have gotta see this shit. what color is your stock and handgrip? |

no i was talking to u. but i will tell u one thing, u might wanna look at burnt bronze in person if u havent, its not the same color as u see online, its actually a lot darker in reality. its trick photography. black and burnt bronze is good tho, i just cant wait to see pics :)

when you hoping to get your pictures up do you think? I dunno, the rail hasn't shown up yet, they say by tuesday, I am sending the upper, lower and rail to San Antonio, Texas to get Cerakoted, so however long that takes, I have most of the stuff to finish the build on order as well.... I'll get them us ASAP, but I'll post pics as I go.. |
Alright, the rails arrived yesterday, the Seekins lower and DPMS LoPro upper are already here... Change of plans however, I will be having Reaper, Hydrographics on top of duracoat applied to the rails, upper and lower, everything else will be black..... No one does Cerakote anywhere near me and I'm done dealing with FFL holders, pain in the @$$!!!!!
so any update? lol still waiting on pics. I got my 13.5" hand guard and just about to put it on my rifle, will have pics soon

Nice set up plan on getting the 10.25 for my next build. How solid is the rail any movement do you think there is a possibility of foward movement. With all the free float rail out there that is my main concern.

With all the free float rail out there that is my main concern. I just installed a 13.5 on my new build and it's rock solid. If you look at Atticaz install pics earlier in the thread the cap screws that tighten the rail to the barrel nut go into the two grooves on the barrel nut preventing any forward movement. For anti-rotation the have two tabs built into the rail that go along the upper. I'll get some pics up later on tonight. |
