Weight isn't an issue for me, so the medium weight profile of the YHM is fine. Honestly, the YHM is much more atheistically pleasing to me, but if there is a huge gap in quality I can't pass on better barrel. I'd appreciate any opinions, thank you. |

I traded a diamond fluted 16" YHM barreled upper for a 16" DD lightweight. I couldn't tell a difference in accuracy. The weight of the YHM actually helped me keep it on target better, but I have to lug my gun a bit so I traded for the lightweight setup.

Everything I have researched says that unless you plan on mag dumping a lot of rounds very quickly the lighter barrels do just fine at short to medium ranges. When you start increasing the heat then that's where having a heavy barrel helps. I have thought about a heavy barrel for my middy, maybe even cut down to 14.5" but I do enjoy the lightweight of the Govt profile.
