I am looking at installing a Samson Evoltion rail on my LMT M4 style rifle. I know how to get the brake and FSB off but am not sure on the Delta ring. Do I need to pull the barrel from the Upper?

You can either remove the barrel to remove the delta ring, or you can cut the delta ring, spring and snap ring off with a Dremel.

I saw a youtube video of one being cut off with a dremel tool. I use the Dremel all the time but it made me cringe. But i dont have the tool to remove a barrel so i may go the dremel route.

Anyone know who might have the 7"-ex model on hand?

The dremel tool worked great for me, make sure to use the reinforced cutoff wheels(part # 426) not the cheap pack. I was able to cut off my delta ring, front sight post and the bayo lug using just one disc. Tape up the receiver and barrel area around the delta ring, then cover the receiver/barrel with another rag and tape that down so the delta ring is the only part exposed and cut away.

The way I described helps keep any of the metal shaving out of the receiver. I heard some say don't do this you'll just scratch your barrel, etc.. but if you take your time it's really pretty easy to do a good job without any unnecessary damage

I literally just did this...and it terrified me as well. That said, all the great advice here helped and the videos listed below really are THE tutorial on how to cut-off the delta ring assembly. All told, it took less than 5 minutes including prep. Just go slow, frequently check your work and make sure you are cutting between the teeth on the barrel nut.

I ordered one from Samson a few weeks ago and got it a few days later.
