^^^ That is sweet... I might have to get one of those light mounts. Separately, just put my order in for a factory 300BLK 10.5" from Oakland Tactical. They have some in stock.

What's the word on the new chassis?
Are they out in the wild yet? Haven't seen any resent photos since SHOT. |

My stamp finally came back for my AAC Element 2. I am using the Spikes Tactical 22lr bolt and drop in 5" MRP 22lr barrel.

Quick question for those with multiple barrels. How are you storing your spare barrel assemblies? I've been casually looking for some sort of small soft sided case to put the 2 extra barrels I have and to avoid just storing them in a toolbox or in a drawer in my bench where they can get banged up. Originally, I was looking the SAW spare barrel bag but it's a little more than I would like to spend.
Thanks |

Although I do prefer to run a light. The MRP's are my idea of the perfect AR. Actually I have a 4th MRP chassis inbound with a 10.5" 300BO factory barrel. Think I may run an acog and offset RMR on this one Eta pic thread- |

yeah, MRP's really tough to beat, i would like to get a 12.5 Piston, really like the looks, did 10.5 for a long time and just got tired of it, great gun, just needed to change it up

Got my factory 300BO 10.5" in today!
ETA I also got the invoice that my Surefire SOCOM 7.62RC in FDE is transferring to my dealer on a form 3! |

Any 6.5G barrels available? thinking about doing a 18" stainless 5.56, but I'd like to shoot out farther if I ever have the chance.
Leads on a rifle length upper? |

Rainier Arms seems to have them in stock: http://www.rainierarms.com/?page=shop/detail&product_id=714 I believe he is looking for an 18 inch 6.5 Grendel barrel for his MRP. There are no factory 6.5 Grendel barrels made for the MRP system (and the factory 6.8 barrels are the inferior SPC ones; vs. the SPC II). Your best bet is to have a standard 6.5 Grendel barrel modified to work with the MRP system. I know DBMG used to do it that kind of work (http://www.dbmg-llc.com). |

Ok after doing some research I've got a few questions. My orginal plan was to build two standard uppers. One 18" Stainless 6.5G and one 18" Stainless 5.56. Est. price was $2k give or take a couple hundred dollars. The reality is I'm never going to be shooting both of these uppers on the same range trip, so now I'm thinking one LMT rifle length MRP with two barrels would be another option and come out to around the same price. I can leave the one scope mounted to the upper and swap barrels when the desire arises.
Is this a good platform for shooting tiny groups or is the barrel swap feature lacking anything from the standard barrel nut design? Does anyone know if DBMG will convert a melonited barrel? Does anyone know where I can find a rifle length MRP upper with an 18" 5.56 stainless barrel? |
|
|
The MRP's are very accurate rifles and the barrel mounting system is probably more robust than your standard barrel nut setup...but you have to keep in mind that switching barrels, and especially switching calibers is going to require you to constantly readjust and re-zero your scope. There is no way around that...not with any rifle on earth.
If zero your optic with the 5.56 barrel, then pull the barrel and immediately re-install the same barrel, your zero will remain very close...but not perfect. If you install a different caliber, you'll be adjusting for different ballistics all together. |

Who cut and dimpled them? Marvin? Did you keep the port the same?

Marvin did the barrels. 14.5" cut to 11.5" and the gas ports are unmodified.

I have never had any issues with my issued M4 but if I could I would take my MRP. I have a CQB I want to trade for a rifle length if anyone is interested.

interested in the that trade. I have a rifle length 556 mrp

So I need 2-3 barrels converted to the MRP platform when I get home in a couple months. DBMG doesnt answer their phones, where are you guys having your conversions done?
|
|
My drill sergeant had done three tours as combat arms, had a scar down the length of his face, and was no-shit bi-polar. That's how they are supposed to be.

Sweet, got ahold of Marvin, looks like my MRP plans are pushing forward.
I do have a couple questions though, I apologize if these have been answered in the thread, im in Afghanistan and cant read the whole thing. - Im looking at trading in my 9mm SBR upper for an additional MRP upper with the 9mm barrel, and be able to use all the barrels on both. Are the rails wide enough to accommodate a 5.5" barrel and my gemtech can? - With the CQB platform, how far out does a midlength barrel and low pro gas block stick out from the rails? Does the gas block butt right up against it or is there gas tube exposed? - For anyone swapping between 5.56 and 6.8 SPC II, what type of optic are you using? Id like to go magnified, but all my magnified optics have BDC reticles for 5.56. Would the 6.8 be that far off from the 5.56 BDC reticle on my Elcan Specter at 300m or less? With the 9mm I can just use the Elcan as a red dot, but I am wondering if I need to swap to an entirely different optic for 6.8. |

No idea about the 9mm and 6.8 but I keep my optics on QD mounts and mark where I have them on the upper. When I switch barrels, I just switch optics. I think it's easier than trying to rezero or play hold off games. View Quote Awesome, thanks. I'm looking at sending him a midlength 6.8 SPCII barrel and that solves my questions with that. |

If anyone is interested I contacted a gear manufacturer and he is working on padded molle barrel bags for the MRP with integrated storage for BCG's.
