Here is a chart, originally posted (I think) by Wes at MSTN. I am using this info to decide on a precision barrel, 18 vs 20 inches. I have both lengths in Krieger DCM profiles and want to keep just one built up. In heavier bullets (77gr) there seems to be about 50fps difference between the two lengths. The rifle may stay at the "top of the food chain" along with two carbines, or it may be supplanted by a Larue OSR 20in in .308. Purpose is as a 500yd rifle, paired w/ 2.5-10 power scope.
Questions: Is this data still the best info available? What does 50fps do for you at 500yds, if anything? Which way did you/would you go?
LIMITED DATA, ADMITTEDLY, BUT I THINK IT'S INTERESTING:
