The photo in the list for the R6520 says:

COLT

Will check it, thanks

Some more info if it helps:

I think the lower receiver with the marking "Colt Carbine" SER CC****** is actually a Model R6521 as opposed to R6520 or AR6520.

I also think the only difference between the R6520 (non-LEO) and the AR6520 (LEO) is preban vs. postban production.  Both have the AR-15A2 Gov't Carbine GC serial prefix.

Maybe an expert from the Colt forum will jump in and elaborate or correct me.

I have a topic going in the AR15 board here about my rifle being a real Colt or not and I have just posted some pics of the markings on mine. You can have the pics if you want. I am using a friends space right now so they won't be there forever but if you want the pics they are yours to have.

I thought you might want the pics because it shows markings on mine that are not listed in the FAQ to this point. I believe my rifle to be a Colt AR15 A2 carbine #6520 with 16" light barrel.

My barrel pic shows similar to what you have posted but without the word "HBAR".

My upper markings pic shows a keyhole mark like the Cerro one that you show but yours shows a big "C" next to it and mine does not have that.

I hope these pics help contribute. If it ends up turning out that what I have is a real Colt then these pics could be of some use to anyone else that has the same gun to verify what it is.

I have an Essential Arms Gun that I believe to be all original.  I got it from a dealer who got it from a Police Department as a trade.

It is an A1 and instead of having C M on the upper which would indicate Colt- Martin Marietta, it has the letters P M.  I don't know what the P stands for but the upper could very well be a surplus Martin Marietta.  I picked that up from bigger hammer.

Essential Arms was just a lower when it was made.  A supplier probably mated the upper to it and sold it when new.

Also I am going to be coming into a Palmetto soon and can tell more about it.

Have you seen bigger hammers info on uppers, lowers and bolt carriers?

http://www.biggerhammer.net/ar15/uppers/

It says colt but is more univeral in the suppliers.

I can give pics of my essential arms gun upper if you like.

First, thought I'd mention that I have a GM HYDRAMATIC DIVISION M-16A1.

Second, could you add Sabre Defence (yes, spelled Defence) to the list.  They make XR15 and XR16 rifles.

Thanks.

You need to change your  M4A1 with property marks to a RO921.

An RO977 is a comercial/export variant.

You should also add a list of forgings found on removeable carry handles. that would also be something worht looking, specially if you have recently purchased one and want to check if it's a good one or if it is a piece of Chinese pot metal junk.

Here is the elusive FN M4.  its actually an M16A2 that has been rebuilt and remarked as an M4  it is an AF inventory gun that was rebuilt at Anniston Army Depot in 2005.  all the parts were Colt M4 except the lower and lower guts.

I wonder with .mil would bother re-labeling the lower with these markings.

Makes not an ounce of difference, does it?

(maybe to be sure the proper spring and buffer are used?......I guess)

Impressive photo, though. Thanks machinehead

Thanks, _DR

$25 /year on photobucket.com gets unlimited storage, and is very reliable.

(wonder why ar15.com wouldn't sponsor the hosting? That is one of the most durable and fundamentally valuable threads - and one that personifies an "AR15 reference" website)

Yeah, problem with photobucket is they give you unlimited storage but limited bandwidth per month. the first time I put this thread up there were so many hits photobucket was giving me red X's in a week. Granted it has slowed down, and a paid account will likely give you more, but for $94, I get my own domain with lifetime domain name, 12GB of storage, and most importantly, unmetered bandwidth.

I do appreciate Chameleons contribution very much, but this will be better as I will have easy access to edit the files.

I am also hoping to do rifle "Marking Profiles" which will include a set of photos of everying marking from a given factory produced rifle, such as the LE6920, for example. This will help new AR buyers avoid franken-guns passed off as factory rifles.

Anyway, looking forward to getting them all moved to the new server.

Just got back from my workshop where I turned threads for my buddys Bushmaster. After threading I "inspected" whole carbine and to my amazement I found new forge mark, at least new to me.
Rifle is brand new 16" A3 flat top carbine, serial # BFI477xxx.

Does anybody know who has made this forging?

LOT but this carbine has also CM marking on bolt. Does that stand for Continental Machine?
ETA: problem solved, bolt is made by Stag/ Continental Machine & Tool

thanks,
