If so what upper did you use?  I did a quick search and found Anderson and Radical.  I want to do better than that.  JP sells complete 6.5 rifle but not just upper.  Their barrel alone is $500-600.  I'll probably end up building my own with quality parts but not sure where to start.  This would be primarily a range gun.

I used a lilja 12.5 barrel on an Eisenach RH side charging upper with their BCG. SLR adjustable gas block and thunderbeast muzzle device for the can.

Still breaking it in but sub-MOA on more groups than not (shot prone off bipod). Haven't benched it yet.

I've done 3 through the years.

One was a friend's who wanted the receiver trued and barrel contoured and bead blasted, and 2 were mine.  I originally bought a 6.5G Alexander Arms upper with a 20" rifle gas barrel and wanted to put a shorter 16" midlength gas barrel.  As far as barrel/bolt combos go, I have been hearing some good things about Odin works which has an intermediate gas port position and also JP and Lilja make some great parts.

Don't skimp on the barrel and bolt and use a nice freefloat handguard (Daniel Defense, Noveske, KAC, etc) for it.  A Geissele trigger and some great glass (Vortex Viper PST and up) will make for an outstanding range gun.

I built one few years back......was one of only 2 AR's that I've ever sold. Nothing wrong with it just had someone offer me stupid money for it one day at the range. It had a CSS barrel and bolt and was .5 moa when I did my part. May build another someday.

I built a JP barrel/bolt on a Mega upper, the most accurate rifle I have ever shot.  Sub MOA out to 300 yards with hornady sst.

Mine is a Rock Creek barrel on a Mega billet upper. It's very accurate, and I enjoy shooting it.

I put a 16 inch Alexander Arms barrel into a standard Aero upper.
I have had zero complaints. It's a great little rifle.

Yeah when they are in stock, I am signed up on 4 different sites to be notified when back in stock, trying to build one, Odin looks solid and at a reasonable price.

I bought an Alexander Arms barrel and bolt used. I thinkbit is discontinued now. Built on a PSA upper, Midwest Industries handguard, PSA BCG, and all slapped on a PSA STR lower. It has given me a few reliability issues, and I'm in the process of working them out. ASC mags.

I've got three 6.5 Grendel AR-15's.  My first was a J&T Distributing 16" CAR 1:9 twist chrome moly barrel I set up to match my duty 5.56.  My second has Shilen 20" DCM profile match barrel 1:9 twist in PSA Blem upper and lower.  I used RRA NM lower parts kits and 6 position collapsible stock on the first two.  My third uses a Faxon 16" Chrome Moly Nitride 1:8 twist mid length gas with a Geissele G2S trigger in Anderson upper and lower.

Built mine from a Rock River upper/lower set. It is an Odinworks 20" barrel, bolt carrier group, gas tube and gas block.
Built it for hog hunting here in S Florida. Using an ATN X Sight II and love the combination.

I built my brother in law a 6.5 using an 18" Alexander Arms barrel mated to a Vltor Upper receiver.  I am pretty sure he hasn't shot it any past 30 yards so I don't know how it will really perform.  It just sits in his safe for now.

Keep waiting for BA to deliver but that's been a year in waiting so AA is who I would go with if your not planning on going suppressed.

I built a great shooting Grendel using Seekins billet receivers and a Lilja AR319 barrel.  The upper is IMRT-R with a 15" handguard and the lower is the standard looking model SBA15.

OP, JP Rifles sells 6.5 G's as a barrel bolt combo, complete upper or full rifle.  The will also build a rifle on your existing lower if you want.  Little cheaper than the Lilja once you factor in the cost of the bolt.
