Putting together a shopping list and looking at hand guard,  and like the looks of the long hand guard and a short barrel, like a 14" guard on a 16" barrel for example. I'm not against other lengths, show me what you have, and tell me what lengths and who makes the guards please.

Thanks

That's Griffin Armaments new "Rigid Rail".  I'm a huge fan of the rail and it is indeed very RIGID.  It's the nicest rail I've ever owned.

That being said, I had some minor trouble with the install.  Some may call me a dumbass, or operator error, but I felt I was only partly to blame.  You can read about the rail and check it out further in the New Products sub-forum.  I stand by both assertions.  The rail itself is really damned nice.  The install wrench I was provided isn't.  YMMV.

Thanks.  That barrel nut/wrench mating system looks strikingly similar to the DD RIS II/Lite/Slim barrel nut/wrench interface.  It appears they may have the same issue with the supplied wrench not being up to snuff.

I agree.

But for the sake of being as fair as possible....they claim they make them like they do in order to keep costs to the consumer down, which I like.  They also claim they haven't seen or had the problems I did.  Naturally this implies me to be at fault, and although I disagree entirely I can see their side of things.  Like their rep told me in the other thread, he wasn't there.  So he can't say for certain.  But I would defend my product too if I were in his position.

I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.  I think maybe my particular wrench just didn't fit as well as it should.

But from my limited experience I will recommend the rail.  I would also recommend a quality castle nut wrench like a Hammerhead.....just in case.

Nice rifles.

Also, switch the stock-side sling mount to the other side.  It'll alleviate the slight strangulation when the rail and stock sling mounts are on opposite sides.

Look at his two sling mount points.  Both are on the same side; the rifle's left.  Moving the mount point on the stock to the opposite side, the right, makes it more comfortable and alleviates some neck pressure
