I'd love to have that 601 clone. The Car15 would be nice too.

A limited run of 1500? Geniuses at work at Colt.

That way they can sell them for twice what anyone would normally pay.. It would probably be cheaper to just piece one together.

Colt representatives were very proud of the exactness with which they recreated the aluminum CAR-15 sliding stock.

Is it me, or are both examples lacking that classic Colt grey finish?

I'll get an m16A1 clone if it is feasible.

So will these be back ordered before or after A4s?

Just want to know when these too will be out of stock everywhere I check.

My exact thought.

I have always liked colt stuff.

But the people in charge are virtually retarded.

Imagine how many / how much money they could have made if the started selling these 3 years ago at a reasonable price.

You would be surprised as to how much it cost to build a correct retro 601, 602, XM16E1, M16A1, XM177E2, and so on. Many of us on the Retro forum already know. I have my share of them.

I know what you mean, that's why I don't have a 601 clone. What I meant about the Colt made clone is that they will probably charge way more than what you could piece together a correct clone, especially considering they are only making 1500 of them. I guess Colt taking the trouble out of finding the parts is worth a little more, but sometimes these companies go overboard on their pricing.

With the limited availability, I probably will never have the chance to get one and wouldn't be willing to pay the price.  Built a 603 on a Colt M16A1 upper and a Nodak Spud lower  8 years for about $1K,  I'm sure Colt will get three times that for their 601 and shudder to think what the Colt XM 177E's go for...

If the xm177 moderator doesn't come with a stamp it's not accurate.

You have to remember that it is not just Colt in this game. U.S. Armament is actually responsible for these retro models. It is a collaboration with Colt. As for building a 601, if there is a new 601 coming out, chances are that you can buy one a lot cheaper than you can build a correct one for. Of course, for now, all they are releasing is the XM177E2 and the XM16E1 versions.

Whoa!
As far as accurate rollmarks go, I believe we have a winner.
I WILL be picking up a XM177E2.

I'd love to see one of Colt's XM177E2s next to Troy's XM177E2 or GAU-5A/A offering.

I heard the price is going to be around 3k. Imagine how much that price will sky rocket because of the low availability on gunbroker etc.

If this is the case, the XM177E2 and XM16E1 will be way over priced. $1500 is more like what they should be priced.

I'll believe it when I see it. They'd trotted out ideas before like CAR-15s w/ 607-type short triangular handguards and those never made it to market. And we've all seen how well they've done w/ A4s. Colt will manage to mess this up somehow.

If what's been said is true about Colt & their partners in this investing in new forgings and such, then a limited run seems ridiculous.

I agree. Especially with Troy's GAU-5A/A clone at around $1300(which as an FFL Dealer, NONE of my distributors have listed in inventory as of yet).

I suspect the ticket on these Colts will be around $2500-$2800 which will make them unobtanium for most folks. Also they won't be released till after 2017 SHOT Show
anyways, from what I understand.

You can build your own correct clone for much less. I do not see them selling too many of these for that price. Of course, some poor saps will buy them.

The 6920 socom and socom II were also limited to 1,500.  I really doubt there will be just 1,500 of each, its just a way to create more buzz.

Hopefully they will be under $2500, preferably under $2000.

The originals selector switch went on over one more position and the 15 was a 16..... I'd call it a clone.
