Im sure RDTCU could conjure something up like it. |

The height of homebrew tactical in the mid-90's. This is an SSK Industries (the folks that make some nasty "hand cannons") "Carry Handle Conversion" on an SP1 upper. This was before flattops became popular, and even then were very hard to find for a big hole lower. The UltraDot was recommended by SSK for its ability to handle recoil, again way before RDS became as popular as they are now. Actually, the setup was pretty forward thinking. They made the rail just the right height to get a lower-third cowitness with the irons.
Speaking of oddball tech, I also have a Rhino Piston Conversion upper for this rifle. Attached File |

Bump
Quoted:
A blast from the past....was actually a pistol running a Broadhead DIAS......so I didn't know to post it in the pistol, SBR, or MG thread. At the time, an AR pistol had to be built on a pre-'94 lower, transferred on a 4473 as a pistol, and engraving didn't hurt...... The ass end was all M-231...a Co. called "Placer CBS" used to sell all kinds of hard to find AR/M-16 parts back in the Shotgun News in the '90's....I combined the M231 tube /stock /buffer with the recoil spring and bolt carrier plug Gunsmoke Ent. used to sell.....
