Hi I got a home made AR in a trade. This thing has a Anderson lower whitch looks ok. What I was looking at is it has the Stag M-4 1/9 twist
with the diamondhead for arm on it. Im thinking the hole top end is Stag.
I was just wondering what you guys thought of this barrel set up.

Thanks!
Gator.

Key hole marking means the forging was from Cerro which of course means...... well not much.  I want to say my STAG was a cerro marking as well, but STAG could be using a supplier who buys what ever forgings are available and then finishes them to STAG specs.

What does the barrel marking say/look like?

I like Stag parts but I wouldn't go out of my way to buy a Stag upper or barrel unless it was a smoking deal.

Real accurate barrels.  Scope it, feed it 50 grain handloads and make cloverleafs.

Why would you not like the barrels?

While i can't answer for hotbiggun, stag barrels aren't the best

Far from the worst, but quite a ways from the best

My Stag upper never gave me any problem during the 3k rounds or so I put through it; I recently gave it to my nephew for his sixth birthday.

I don't think you'll have any problems but you wont know until you try it.

Not that they are bad that I know of but Stag uppers and lowers are overpriced in this market. But like I said I like Stag parts.

I have a complete Stag Model 3. Haven't had a single issue. It is a keyhole upper so that sounds right and Stag ships many uppers with a Diamondhead rail.

The barrel would by 4140 steel and you may or may not have M4 feed ramps

Sounds good to me OP, if it shoots good, and functions good, shoot the he!! out of it!  I have a model 3 TL-M with the plus package, and a Nikon optic. It's a great quality rifle, that's awesome to shoot!

In my experience, the 4140 1/9 chrome lined counterpart barrels from RRA seem to be more accurate.

I have two complete Model 2s and they have the square forge mark, one bought in 5/2013 and 6/2014, 1/9 and the other 1/7.

ETA: purchased new, the more recent one ordered from Stag by FFL by request.
