KAC, Noveske or Larue.....I'd also be happy with a DD or Bravo Co.

If money is no object, go with a KAC SR-15E3 IWS... http://www.knightarmco.com/wp-content/uploads/mobile/sr15/sr15_iws_carbine_mod1.png That being said, you can also build one with parts from companies like BCM and it will serve you well. This Or if money is an option a PSA CHF 11 inch pistol upper on an 80% lower with a shockwave brace and a Geissele SD3G, or perhaps a Velocity 3 pound trigger. Push the laws right up to the limit! |
|
If I could only have one it would be my BCM 11.5 upper and PSA lower with ALG ACT trigger. It does everything I want a rifle to do and is set up for SHTF/HD/SD ect. A very (and I mean VERY) close second would be my 14.5 BCM upper and PSA lower.
If I was buying one right now, and could only ever have just the one, I'd pick up another BCM 11.5 upper and go with whatever mil-spec lower I could get for a good price. If a SBR wasn't an option then a BCM 16" middy would be the ticket. |
|
If I could only own one, it would be a 12.5 inch sbr with an additional 18 inch upper that I built.

At one time I had to make the call of having only one. I picked a DD M4V11. Daniels makes a fine rifle, great barrels and I love the new furniture. The quality is top notch. Best of all, I got it on sale and that tipped the scales to that rifle. Now that I have it it's my go to shooter.

Threads of this sorts are
As long as the rifle meets certain minimum standards (groups, cycles reliably), it's the Indian - not the arrow. A good shooter could pick up 99% of the rifles suggested in this thread and shoot them all equally well and pass it along to their grandchildren. |

My KAC 14.5 or KAC 11.5 both suppressed.would be my choice for 5.56 but, the one at the very top of my list is my SR25 ECC with a Leupold CQBSS and QDC CQB Suppressor.

If it was only one, and had to be a complete rifle out if the box (no build, no mix and match), it would be DD. very pleased with my V11.

I only have 1, and it's a 10.5" LMT. I haven't felt the need for anything else--this build does everything I need it to. http://i.imgur.com/vrA67oy.jpg View Quote Badass..Any plans for a suppressor? I just feel that one would round out that package perfect. |

So money is a bit tight. I'm planning on getting a Surefire 762 Mini to cover as many calibers as possible. I also have a 22lr can in jail right now, so there's that. |

I have no AR as of this time. Have been thinking of getting back into the game. Oh, one stipulation is that it can't have the M4 cut in the barrel. I hate the look of that. View Quote AR 18. EDIT: No M4 cut in the barrel? Then how are you going to fit that M203? |
|
|
I wouldn't buy a complete AR.
I'd build the upper around an ARP barrel/Superbolt. Probably use a GWACS or a standard A2 lower. |
|
The rifle I currently own.
Colt LE6920 "M4A1 Carbine" marked complete factory built lower receiver with B5 SOPMOD. Daniel Defense complete M4A1 "BLOCK II RIS II FDE" upper receive with KAC flip sights and an EOTech EXPS. |

I'd get a LW profile CHF mid length upper from one of the main players (you know who they are), use a quality BCG. Get the lower of your choice. Assemble it with the parts and stock you prefer the first time. Pencil profile realistically only saves you about 6 oz (on my scale) so I'd prefer the LW if this might be my only AR.

Only one.... Probably a 16" BCM Mid-Length with a CHF barrel or a 16" Daniel Defense Mid-Length
|
|
KAC SR15 but having a chance to shoot and handle a Hodge I'd consider it as well.
|
|
ONLY one would have to use all standard parts (no proprietary stuff).
I did go with a BCM middy for my only ONE just because I like the idea of their barrel and KMR rails, though I'd take a hard look at Hodge Defense's Mod2 if money wasn't an issue. Of course, if money weren't an issue, I guess I could buy an SR15 along with two extra bolts and gas tubes. These days, I think most of the known, good, mil-spec makers are putting out high-quality stuff: DD, Colt, LMT, etc. I would be fine owning any of them, but my experience with a borrowed 16" BCM middy made me decide it was time to sell my 6920 carbine. |
|
I have only one personally-owned AR and it's a Colt 6720.
I went with the Colt 6720 because I like lightweight barrels and because of standardization: if a part or accessory won't fit a Colt.... well, that part/accessory is simply out of spec. For those recommending the Colt 6920, you must have missed the part where he said that he didn't want the M203 notch. |
